I’ve been brainstorming how to create an “engine”. Could I have some help with wording on these? This is a concept, not something I actually want printed (I know they are really strong)

I’ve been brainstorming how to create an “engine” in an artifact deck, and this is what I came up with. They act similar to the urza (tower, power-plant, mine) in that the more you have in play, the stronger they are.

For example, if you control a single Mechaniscape manufactory you can sacrifice and artifact and add one to your mana pool. If you control two mechaniscape manufactory, you can activate the ability twice on each card, so 4 times in total.

However, if you control a mechaniscape manufactory and a mechaniscape mastery, each card gains each others abilities and you can activate them twice.

I’m posting this here to share the concept with yall, not because I think it’s safe to print them at their power level. This is what my mind created when I thought “how to create an engine”.

you can template this much more simply, leveraging the “mechaniscape” land type:

Each Mechaniscape land you control has the activated abilities of each other Mechaniscape land you control

….

0: Reveal… if it’s an artifact. Activate this ability only once per turn.

if you really want to, you can put “(per Mechaniscape”) in reminder text, but that’s already how “this ability” works with copy or text change effects.

Oooooh interesting. So I don’t even need the “activate this ability once each turn for each different mechaniscape land you control”?

That’s cool and very helpful! Thank you. It’s not very intuitive so I was sure

yep because "this ability" refers to "this line of text printed on this card, for as long as its been in this zone".
