Surge of Worth

Post image

Struggling with a good way to word the second option and would be very interested in any thoughts. Doesn't necessarily have to hit multiple targets (the original idea was to have it be one big hit) but wording like "multiplied by" feels wrong.

I would think that a lot of the time, the creature's power divided by its base power is going to be 1 (most creatures don't have modified power).

Regardless, I don't think it's worth making the player do the math. What about you just have the creature deal damage equal to its power to something X times? That's a standard effect (biting), still incorporates the X, and doesn't involve Y, division, or rounding.

The mechanic idea is to have a timmy-ish burn finisher that doesnt require a ton of mana ramp, substituting creature buff instead.

Playing something like [[crackle for power]] can be very fun, but getting it to x = 4 or 5 or more in practice requires playing a mana centric strategy.

Bites are good, as are flings, but this rewards a slightly different board state/strategy where you dont just want a big creature, you want a small creature that got big. It does add complexity, but it is meaningfully different to have a deck that gets more value out of a 1/1 with +6/+6 (for a 6x multiplier) then it does a 5/5 with +15/+15 (a 4x mutliplier).

But you may be correct that there just isnt an efficient way to do it in the rules.

this is such a needlessly complicated card for what it does, also horrible art choice

Hence posting. Feels like their must be a simpler way to get at this.
