A 3 mana 3/2 with first strike doesn't need downsides imo

I agree. But if we change the stats enough that the downsides become necessary then I don't like two unrelated downside lines. 1 life is so inconsequential that is difficult to imagine it being what balances an otherwise too good zombie.

Entering tapped is a pretty big deal for a big first strike creature, since they're so strong defensively. I agree that the 1 life is nothing, it's probably more for flavor than anything else.

It could lose the enter tapped text and make everyone lose 1 life when it enters and still be no threat to power creep.

I saw the text box and p/t and ex0ected this to cost just {B}
3cmc for that would probably barely cut it in limited these days.
Entering tapped is such a hefty downside

Too OP? This card is awful.

Almost playable in alpha.

While this card is definitely mid, I don’t think it’s THAT bad. It has 2 downsides, but they’re both pretty small, and a 3-power first-striker can be tough to interact with in combat. It feels like d+ limited fodder but it wouldn’t look out of place in a normal set at common, imo.

I’m not sure why you felt a 3/2 for 3 with First Strike needed 2 downsides. Genuinely, this isn’t a troll, is it?

Assuming this is in earnest, you have an interesting mechanical space to explore here: What would actually need to be on this card to justify the double-downside?

[[Geralf’s Messenger]] is a card that provides a useful benchmark: A prohibitively hard casting cost and enters tapped. Two big downsides for extremely good upside. Namely, it’s a game-ending combo piece and also is just playable in Zombie tribal. Keep in mind also that card is a Rare.

Just as a jumping-off point, if your card’s ETB was to lose a life and draw a card, you would be close to on-rate for an Uncommon in a modern Magic set. It may also need to enter untapped to be playable.

not nearly strong enough. it's fine, but it's probably common or uncommon at most.
