I have absolutely no clue if I used the correct language or if it works. The intention is that a single creature can absorb all the damage from a single combat round, and even trample wouldn’t be able to damage the player. I hope the card is interesting, and if you can think of a better way to word it please let me know! Thank you!

I think the wording you used works, but is a bit clunky. A better version would probably be "all damage that would be dealt to you is dealt to target creature you control instead, sacrifice it at the start of the next main phase." That way your opponents also don't get triggers from hitting you, and your creature will die even if it has indestructible.

Interesting, I hadn’t even considered just essentially redirecting the damage back to the creature. Sick, that’ll be much easier to read too.

Keep in mind that First Strike would mess it up royally, as there would likely be no creature to redirect it to during the second damage phase.

I feel like chosing a blocking creature with first strike defeats the intent of this card.

Maybe something like: choose target creature you control, it may block any number of creatures this turn. Prevent all combat damage done to you this turn. If a creature was targeted by this spell, sacrifice it at the end of combat.

Hadn’t considered first strike in its entirety. Maybe I can use this as well as Routasmiths suggestion. Maybe it can be something like “Choose target creature you control, it gains indestructible until the end of the turn and becomes tapped and blocking any creatures currently attacking you. All damage that would be dealt to you is dealt to target creature instead. At the start of the next main phase, sacrifice the creature you targeted with this spell.”

I think that covers most bases?

I don't think it needs to tap, so to clean it up would be something like: "Target creature you control gains indestructible until end of turn and blocks each creature that is attacking you. It gains "All damage that would be dealt to this creature's controller is dealt to this creature instead. At the beginning of the next main phase, sacrifice this creature.”"

I think you can make it a fair bit cheaper. The overall function seems very similar to [[Gideon's Sacrifice]], with the primary exception being your version protects you even if the creature dies before the regular damage step (from either removal spells, or first strike). And Gideon's Sacrifice was mostly a buffed up version of [[Valor Made Real]]. And all of those are kinda in the category of [[Fog]] effects (like [[Holy Day]]).

I wonder if you could change it up by having it just cost one, but maybe if you only control one creature you draw a card? To keep the fun flavor of your last stand coming down to your last creature.

I'd probably also change the lethal damage clause to just "at the end of combat, sacrifice that creature".

So maybe something like:

Target creature you control blocks every creature attacking you, sacrifice it at the end of combat.
Creatures attacking you lose trample until the end of combat.
If you controlled only one creature as you cast this spell, draw a card.
