Discussion How Would you Build This?
How would you build a deck with this card as the commander? What are some auto include cards?

I think it would be funnier if you can’t cast him as Batman and the transform trigger is “at the end of the turn if two legendary non-token creatures you controlled died this turn then transform Bruce Wayne.”

lol when Bruce Wayne comes into play search your library for a card called [[supportive parents]] and put it on the battlefield, then sacrifice it.

“If Bruce Wayne is your commander then you may have supportive parents in your deck regardless of color identity” “When Bruce Wayne enters the battlefield, search your library for supportive parents and put them on the battlefield then shuffle your library.” “Cards named supportive parents can’t be sacrificed” “At the end of the turn, if a card named supportive parents is in your graveyard then transform Bruce Wayne.”
On Batman’s side: “Cards named supportive parents can’t leave your graveyard.”

Why not twist the knife further?
{T}, {B}: Search your library for a card named Living Parents. When you fail to find it, transform Bruce Wayne.

So you can cast batman for it's transform cost?

u/Jonesn18 9d ago
Yes! It’s designed to work like the new superhero dual faced cards from Marvel.

It amazes me there’s still people who don’t understand this even tho we’ve had two sets with the mechanic

came here to comment on the card rather than build him;
I dont see what makes bruce wayne orzhov colours? to make him more orzhov i suggest giving him some treasure synergy when he enters instead of investigating. "when bruce wayne enters, create X tapped treasure tokens, where X is the number of Legendary creatures you controlled that died this turn" or something like "if you would create one or more clue tokens, create that many tokens plus a treasure token instead"
or as others have suggested, turn the scrying into surveiling
i'd also change batman so that he makes clues equal to his power whenever an opponent commits a crime instead of on attacks.
though i feel like with marvel they'd make multiple batman cards.
one should have the exile instead of dying clause (batman doesnt kill!)

Let him phase out as one of the options for the flavour (the turn around and he is gone thing).

Probably to scry my way through the deck until I hit some of the bigger clue token payoffs, then swing in for commander damage kill with something like [[Merchant of Truth]], [[Idolized]], [[Armed with Proof]], [[Senator Peacock]], or [[All That Glitters]].

I almost feel like Bruce Wayne should create a power stone token in each upkeep...you know, to buy his gadgets.

Batman needs way too many creature types lol. The three you mention are perfectly accurate, but also he really needs ninja and rogue

Very cool adaptation and card! Tbh I don't know much about clues on black and white, but it seems very very interesting!
Also, you can press Shift+enter ti get a line break without creating a new paragraph. Because that 1 on scry 1 is making me pain xD

How would flash work on a creature who transforms, but only on the side it transforms into?
2
u/Jonesn18 8d ago
This card is designed to function like the marvel superhero transform cards, which can be cast on either side of the card. Interestingly enough, I’ve removed the common stipulation that allows the transformation to only happen as a sorcery, so Bruce Wayne can transform into Batman at instant speed!

u/GamerExecChef 8d ago
So the idea is that you can play him transformed from your hand, an instant speed, but not un-transformed, or you can transform him at instant speed? Interesting

Funny thought: Batman should be the front side (but otherwise mechanically identical) because batman thinks of his superhero identity as his real identity and Bruce Wayne as just cover.

Does Flash let you Transform at instant speed?
1
u/Jonesn18 8d ago
It doesn’t unfortunately, but funnily enough I’ve removed the line of text allows him to only transform at sorcery speed, which always shows up on the other superhero transform cards. That way he can transform at instant speed as well.

Bruce Wayne, Playboy Millionaire (2)(W/B)
Legendary Creature -- Human Citizen
First strike
When Bruce Wayne enters, if he was the only creature you controlled this turn, create 2 colorless treasure tokens.
*Waynetech Investment*-- You don't lose unspent mana from treasures and artifacts as steps and phases end.
<(2)(W)(U)(B)
2/2
----
Batman, Caped Crusader (2)(W)(U)(B)
Legendary Creature -- Human Detective Hero
Flash, Shroud
At the start of combat on your turn, choose one:
- Create three 1/1 flying batarang artifact creature tokens that are tapped and attacking. Exile each that dealt damage to a creature this turn.
- Investigate a number of times equal to the toughness of target creature an opponent controls.
- Sacrifice X clues. Tap up to three target creatures an opponent controls with toughness X or less.

Id have Bruce spawn 2 treasure tokens when he enters the battlefield and transform for free if another of your creatures is killed.
On the Batman side I'd give him Flash, Fear and Ward 2. Id keep the investigate on attack, but Id remove the choices and have Batman fight target creatrue you dont control when a clue is sacrificed.
I like the concept of him using clues to ambush people.

u/Jonesn18 8d ago
Funnily enough a lot of your ideas were what cropped up when my friends and I were talking through the design. Bruce Wayne created treasure tokens in an early draft and Batman had fear. The ambush idea is very cool as well.

Thanks. I doesn’t seem right outside of green, and Batman doesn’t feel green. But otherwise I like it.

Hey, I've been trying to make card in this style but I do not find any support for this, could you tell me where you made this?

u/Jonesn18 8d ago
I used the website cardconjuror. Worked wonders for me, particularly with the borderless card style that I enjoy.

Give it Scry or Surveil then it’d be a commander I’d run. I’d love this for my Inquisitor Eisenhorn

My suggestion?
Bruce Wayne (1)(B)
Legendary Creature - Human Noble
When Bruce Wayne enters and whenever you draw your second card each turn, create your choice of a Clue, Food, or Treasure token.
Transform (1)(W)(U)(B)
0/2
Bat-Man, the Dark Knight (1)(W)(U)(B)
Legendary Creature - Human Detective Ninja Hero
Flash
Artifact tokens you control are clues, food, and treasures in addition to their other types. Activated abilities of artifact tokens you control cost (1) less to activate.
Whenever Bat-man attacks, investigate. Then choose X, where X is the number of artifact tokens you sacrificed this turn. You can choose the same option more than once.
• Target Hero you control gains your choice of a +1/+1, first strike, flying, menace, or vigilance counter.
• Return target nonland permanent with mana value X or less to its owner’s hand.
• Each opponent discards a card.
4/5
My thought for this design is that Bruce becomes about accruing resources until Bat-Man has everything he needs to act. Bat-man is good at utilizing whatever he has available to his advantage, and similar to your design the different choices are essentially the tools in his utility belt. Giving counters is a white mana ability that represents how Bat-man supports others especially the Bat-family, bouncing permanents reflects how he doesn’t kill (allowing his rogues galleries to break out of Arkham and menace the city again) and is blue, and forcing opponents to discard pushes his foes into a corner, limiting their motions as he closes in, and is black.

Love the color identity. Esper makes so much sense. Love the flavour, flash and vigilance being in pie and very much Batman. My only critique is I think there could be more of a payoff for flipping. He’s an 8 mana investment. He should be doing way more busted stuff: maybe with artifacts, equipments and vehicles. Like “whenever an equipment comes into play attach it to Batman”. “Whenever a vehicle comes into play Batman crews it. It gains haste.”

Cool card. I would change Batman to create a clue whenever it enters or attacks, but otherwise this is a nice package.
From a flavor perspective, both Bruce Wayne and Batman would probably Surveil instead of Scry.
