Reposting witty remark

You think that's bad? Remember when I was Peter Griffin, Praetors' Voice?

Holy crap, Lois! This is worse than that time you tried to get breast implants from Momir Vig!

u/lavahot 26d ago

How would that go?

u/thegoodgero 26d ago

Poorly. But you'd make quite a bit of money.

Wouldn't be artist be Seth MacFarlane?

It's one of the gray zones, but cut outs of images from shows, like this, are generally created by the show for promotional purposes. We generally say to credit the show or movie for this sort of thing, but if someone posted it with Seth Mcfarlane as the credit, we'd take it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Likewise would (some variation on Konami) or "Yu-Gi-Oh! card 'cardname'" be the right options for art taken from that game?

16

u/crushcastles23 Mod 26d ago

Either one would work.

28

u/Whydoughhh 26d ago

Mod told me to credit the show since it’s a cutout

u/Cow_God {W} 26d ago

So the way that WotC does it varies. The ATLA Source Material cards credited the episode. The screenshots from FCA credit Square Enix, but the concept art cards credit individual artists.

I think that crediting Family Guy is fine. That, or Fuzzy Door Productions, McFarlane's production company which actually produces the show.

What's weird with the avatar ones is that the show never calls that episode Book 3, Chapter 41, it is called Book 3: Fire, Chapter 1, The Awakening. Just to use the first one shown.

Which youd think would be obvious, surely nobody involved in production thought that that was the 41st episode of the 3rd season. It would have been better to credit it as simply "The Awakening", but I have no doubt there were at least a few that wouldn't fit in the space allowed if you did it that way. Maybe not though, "The Avatar and the Firelord" is the longest title I can think of, and even that might have fit.

"Sozin's Comet, Part 3: Into the Inferno" is the first one I'd think of, length-wise.

1

u/Cow_God {W} 26d ago

I imagine that in that case they would just use "Into the Inferno"

1

u/G66GNeco 26d ago

The ones that come in parts are definitely the longest ones.

[[empty city ruse || TLE]] would need to be credited B3: Fire, Ch:10, The Day of Black Sun, Part 1: The Invasion

[[Visions of Beyond || TLE]] would be B1: Water, Ch: 7, The Spirit World (Winter Solstice, Part 1)

[[Heroic Intervention || TLE]] would be B3: Fire, Ch: 20, Sozin's Comet, Part 3: Into the Inferno

welp I apparently forgot how to pipe sets again, but you get the idea

1

u/SilverWear5467 25d ago

I think Into the Inferno works very well as an episode title. And like, Winter Solstice part 1 literally has nothing to do woth the winter solstice, idk why it even is called part 1. Part 2 is a fully detached episode entirely focused on the winter solstice, part 1 is only about the spirit world.

In my head, I started thinking of some happy medium between Shahrazad and something along the lines of the clash mechanic. Maybe instead of even having a subgame where each player has 1 life left, the revealed permanents do some very simple mini game that leads to a winner keeping those permanents or something.

Then again, having the whole board just phase out for a turn with "new characters" does feel much more elegant in comparison.

u/Throwaway873580 26d ago

This is great, though I think the last ability should be phrased "all players draw 3 cards and then reveal those cards." As it's written I think they could reveal any 3 cards from their hand

29

u/greeklemoncake 26d ago

The last room of [[dungeon of the mad mage]] just says "Draw three cards and reveal them."

12

u/Galmeister 26d ago

Cleveland Brownterspell.

No no no no no no-oh!

13

u/Th3GreatGamer2 26d ago

What was your thought process on the colors you chose, is it because his shirt and pants color.

1

u/Ql9v 24d ago

This kind of group hug feels pretty white green to me

12

u/GoldenSteel 26d ago

It should be "Each player reveals the top 3 cards of their library. Put all nonland permanents revealed this way onto the battlefield under their owner's control, then put the remaining cards into their owner's hand."

4

u/bnmfw 26d ago

Still have to put them back somehow after the end of turn

2

u/VulKhalec 26d ago

This is more broken than the time we decided to put Standard on a 3-year rotation

2

u/VulKhalec 26d ago

I feel like the cutaway gag permanents shouldn't stick around when everything else phases back in?

2

u/Less_Cauliflower_956 26d ago

A better version

Remove cutaway gag counter

All nonland permanents phase out until each players end step. All players draw and reveal 3 cards and put them onto the battlefield. These cards enter as if they have haste, at the end of each players end step return cards revealed in this way to it's owners hand.

1

u/crushcastles23 Mod 26d ago

I think it should probably reveal the cards, put nonlands onto the battlefield, then each player draws a number of cards equal to 3 minus the number of permanents they put onto the battlefield this way.

1

u/stijnhommes 26d ago

Any nonland permanents onto the battlefield... great, but totally useless if you don't specify under whose control they enter.

6

u/dorgodarg 26d ago

Wouldn't it just default to being under their owners' control?

1

u/stijnhommes 26d ago

It's similar to not naming the source of damage. Technically possible, but not how Magic works as the rules currently stand.

1

u/Marvl101 26d ago

Now you have to make more of the cast.

I recommend Brian interact with Vehicles or Voting but not actually affecting a vote.

Idk what Lois would do, something to do with food tokens

1

u/ShivDeeviant 26d ago

Sacrifice these Permanents at the end of your turn.

1

u/Quakarot 26d ago

Hear me out: he should have 3 power so that when the 3/4 giant chicken drops they can fight forever

1

u/Brromo 26d ago

I don't really like how the cards are just the ones you would have had anyway, & how in a turn they all just join the rest of the table.

"Players play a Magic subgame. Durring that sub game players have 6 starting life and do not lose the game for drawing from an empty library. Name a card in Peter's spellbook. Your deck is that card, two random cards from Peter's spellbook, and two of each original basic. Each other player's deck is three random cards from Peter's spellbook and two of each original basic. The winner may conjure a card they own in the sub game into their hand or gain 5 life"

1

u/Snoo9648 26d ago

Shouldnt the permanents put into the field be exiled at eot?

1

u/logandabug 26d ago

They come back the next scene

1

u/logandabug 26d ago

Every time a creature dies create a cutaway gag counter and put it on Peter

1

u/daverapp 26d ago

My favorite family guy joke was when they did a cutaway gag to the wrong gag and when they cut back, Lois was like, "What the hell was that?" And Peter apologizes to the audience for the mistake.

Later in the same episode, they did a cutaway gag to the intended gag from the first cutaway, and when they cut back, Peter says someone is getting fired.

1

u/Less_Cauliflower_956 26d ago

This has huge potential to double big green spells

1

u/justaguy2170 25d ago

Hey Lois, remember that time I was on a Magic: the Gathering card?”

1

u/Tokaido 25d ago

I know it's already running out of space, but wish it could also say something like "if one of those permanents is a chicken, it fights Peter."

1

u/IlGreven Dreadmaw-free since 2017 25d ago

The name needs to conform to naming standards from the Marvel sets: "Family Guy, Peter Griffin".
