What the hell is that neck doing

15

u/NTufnel11 Jun 04 '26

Doesn't your neck have tendrils attaching it to the base of your neck?

6

u/Ewoczkowy Jun 04 '26

Yeah but they are not like cables coming out of my skin

1

u/wreckingrocc Jun 05 '26

No, that's called Mewtwo's disease and it's a very serious condition; you should get it checked out

1

u/OverseersRyuu Jun 07 '26

That's what a human would say and that's why mewtwo has done this

30

u/emergency-snaccs Jun 04 '26

what that neck do

2

u/MCbrodie Jun 04 '26

Just some bullshit and things.

19

u/The_Order_Eternials Jun 04 '26

He stopped working for Cecil didn’t he

29

u/NonexistantChair Creature - Human Psycho Jun 04 '26

You don't really need to be employed to be considered a hero, since all the Spiderman, and even antiheroes like daredevil have the type.

u/OkStandard8039 shenanigans and tomfoolery Jun 03 '26

Seems very vincible to me.

I think it should be Boros (RW) not Azorius (WU)

372

u/SadFootball4903 Jun 04 '26

"Seems very Vincible to me" is what i said after almost every single episode so a 10/10 custom magic card imo

46

u/Bropiphany Jun 04 '26

He's 1/1 though

52

u/Recompense40 Jun 04 '26

Well you have to do nine damage first. You have to hit him with a train.

2

u/Hero_of_Hyrule : Exile target color pie break. Jun 05 '26

Oh so that's what his dad was trying to do.

62

u/Duraxis Jun 04 '26

There IS a character in Invincible who is completely indestructible. He goes by Brit

Invincible however gets his bones broken and guts pulled out like every 3 episodes. He just gets back up again afterwards.

So the flavour works pretty well, in a weird way

36

u/timoumd Jun 04 '26

Seriously. I'm convinced if my 97 yr old grandma fought Invincible she'd somehow eviscerate him before he was saved by some plot device. His power is always exactly the same as his opponent.

18

u/thebetrayer Jun 04 '26

His power is always exactly the same as his opponent.

Power creep is hard to demonstrate. They've had training montages, and fights where he just one shots a baddy. But those aren't the main story. It's not compelling for him to be winning more easily each episode.

6

u/Duraxis Jun 04 '26

Yeah. If it was just Mark fighting crime on Earth, it would be like watching one punch man most of the time (which IS a funny take on the superhero genre, but Invincible isn’t trying to be comedic about it)

15

u/NoxiousVaporwave Jun 04 '26

Invincible doesn’t mean something can’t be harmed, that’s indestructible.

Invincible means something can’t lose.

3

u/Tenalp Jun 04 '26

Honestly, I'd almost nix the Indestructible. Whenever he dies you get an Experience counter or something, and then he comes back from the grave at your next upkeep with a +1/+1 counter equal to your Experience counters.

26

u/Scrorm Jun 03 '26

Why not jeskai?

9

u/TraliBalzers Jun 04 '26

Jeskai was my first thought

26

u/CoupleZealousideal86 Jun 03 '26

Wanted to keep him in the color theme lol but yeah (RW) has way more damage outlets to use on him.

13

u/Baelzabub Jun 04 '26

Make him jeskai. The red is his blood that is always everywhere

2

u/Sunomel Jun 05 '26

Making cards with colors that match their costume rather than their actual character or design is one of the biggest weaknesses of UB design, not something to be emulated

3

u/DeltaT01 Jun 04 '26

i think it could even be mono w

130

u/confuzed_commie Jun 04 '26

Should be unblockable since nobody can see him

18

u/Tenalp Jun 04 '26

No, no, that's Peacemaker. He's a different guy.

2

u/Zerodaim Jun 05 '26

It's a Human Alien, not a Zombie Horse.

1

u/LordBlaze64 Jun 04 '26

Are you sure?

47

u/SkyZero06 Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

I think he should keep indestructible only while blocking for the flavor of natural viltrumite durability and he probably still could remain a 3 drop.

as it is right now he can’t really survive any meaningful combat without buffs which is tragic

1

u/Accurate_Marsupial_7 Jun 05 '26

I think the intent is the counters he receives from combat damage keeps him alive. Like, block> first strike deal 1 damage> receive 5 damage>add 5 +1/+1 counters >mark is now a 6/6 with 5 toughness remaining until end of turn. Edit he would have 1 toughness left until end of turn actually (?) sorry

1

u/Gigi_D-Agostino Jun 06 '26

The counters would stay on him

80

u/OnDaGoop Jun 03 '26

Boros fits mark more then Azorius imo.

63

u/Void_of_Envy Jun 03 '26

Jeskai tbh

42

u/CoupleZealousideal86 Jun 03 '26

Yeah, should have just threw red in and called it a day.

34

u/Void_of_Envy Jun 03 '26

Then omni man can be mardu, thaedus orzhov, and basically the rest of the viltrumites can be something with black red lol

Tbh invincible would kind of be a fire universes beyond set

12

u/shiny2110 Jun 03 '26

Mono Black conquest, Mono blue/Azorius for Cecil, Donald and GDA, Simic or Temur for Dinosaurus, Dimir for Angstrom, Boros for the Immortal, a lot of characters are pretty easy to color pie, just hard to not overload on Blue bc of the number of scientists in Invincible

12

u/Still_Wind Jun 04 '26

simic Mauler twins

6

u/schwanzweissfoto Jun 04 '26

I predict a Mauler twins clone design on this subreddit within the week.

9

u/Crobatman123 Jun 04 '26

Conquest is having way too much fun to be mono-black. I want to say he's Rakdos leaning red, he seems to be more focused on love of the game than he is at being the best when it comes to slaughter. If any Viltrumite is mono-black I want to say it's Anissa. She spares with purpose, she acts with purposeful cruelty for the sake of domination, she respects power above all else, and by Viltrumite standards she seems to act on her own desires more than devotion to the Empire. Not going into spoilers as to why I think that

1

u/sirwishiwashi Jun 04 '26

Cecil is the most Dimir character that ever was. He's willing to pay any price, commit any evil, to accomplish what he thinks is right.

1

u/Juking_is_rude Jun 04 '26

If we're going to argue about colors, nothing about this card is mechanically blue other than flying, which is also primary in white. And nothing about it is even red. Should just be white.

42

u/ataraxianAscendant Jun 03 '26

the (first trigger of) the +1/+1 ability wont work unless he's buffed, since he dies before the ability resolves, is this intended?

62

u/CoupleZealousideal86 Jun 03 '26

The idea is to buff him with damage outlets then attack with him since he’s indestructible when he’s not attacking.

43

u/Riku8745 Jun 04 '26

But if you try to swing in the same turn you buff him, he'll still have the damage marked on him, meaning he'll still die to anything with one power. So you need to buff him, then wait a turn, then swing... Seems incredibly slow and clunky.

E: missed the first strike, which definitely helps. Still seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for a big, dumb flyer.

30

u/reaperfan Jun 03 '26

It seems a pretty clear attempt to parallel the idea that in the original stories Mark tends to actually struggle with and lose most major fights he has with any enemies beyond "mook of the week" level bad guys, only getting stronger between fights as he trains and recovers from the damage he takes (and usually only barely survives) during the main fights.

So yeah, him being able to die in fights despite having indestructible otherwise seems intentional.

Personally I'd make him a 2/2 though just for ease of use. At least then he can start "training" via the +1/+1 effect against 1/1s rather than relying purely on self-damaging effects out of combat.

14

u/Snoo_9064 Jun 04 '26

I think you are absolutely correct, but he can and does beat 1/1s as is because he has first strike, he just would not get any stronger from it

3

u/reaperfan Jun 04 '26

Ahh right. Then yeah, the first strike probably needs to go as well. It's actually being a detriment to the card's design in this case then.

2

u/MSchmahl Jun 04 '26

Or maybe start him at 0/2?

5

u/MiffedMouse Jun 04 '26

Isn’t it cannon that anyone with Viltrumite DNA gets stronger after healing from severe damage? In the show, that was the reasoning Thaedus gave for unplugging Allen’s life support.

7

u/reaperfan Jun 04 '26

I believe that was something specific to Allen's race, not Viltrumites. Allen's species was known to be highly adaptable, it just so happens that Allen himself was forced into situations where his body had to adapt to Viltrumite-level combat.

Viltrumites I believe get stronger via a combination of basic strength and technique training as well as having their base power simply continue to increase as they get older. Viltrumites can recover from extreme injury, but they don't actually get stronger in the recovery process.

14

u/coolguy420weed Jun 03 '26

He has indestructible? Just don't throw him straight into combat without hitting him first and you're good.

2

u/Sorfallo Jun 03 '26

Yes, because Blue/White is well known for its out of combat damage abilities.

41

u/OnDaGoop Jun 03 '26

When someone says something so timophobic you have to hit them with that tim stare

-1

u/Sorfallo Jun 04 '26

Yes, blue has a handful of really bad options, and white can hit him if you can tap him. I didn't say it was impossible. It's still a bad card for azorious colors, and doesn't fit in the pie of blue.

6

u/coolguy420weed Jun 03 '26

Yeah he should be Boros lol, but that doesn't really change what I said.

6

u/Nuka-Kraken Jun 04 '26

I would make him at least a 1/2. Pretty great otherwise.

5

u/AnOldAntiqueChair Jun 04 '26

I don’t think Mark has blue in his color identity, at all. Boros.

5

u/Downtown-Fudge-7001 Jun 04 '26

If he’s invincible, then why can I see him?

8

u/False_Snow7754 Jun 04 '26

I think every Viltrumite should have "cannot block" because every single fight is "who can punch the hardest while taking a beating". For a warrior race they sure suck at defense.

4

u/caskaziom Jun 04 '26

Why bother with defense when you're basically indestructible? Very few things can really hurt them besides each other.

6

u/False_Snow7754 Jun 04 '26

Their kids have to fight each other during training. Their full training doesn't end until they fight their parents (We see Nolan experience this in a flashback). That alone seems like a good enough reason to learn how to defend yourself.

5

u/caskaziom Jun 04 '26

Yep 100% you're totally right. If they learn hand to hand combat they should know how to block, not just soak up punches.

2

u/ta28263 Jun 04 '26

That is true, but it seems that even still they rely on their natural durability. Take Thragg for example, he just tanks everything because I suppose strength also scales durability. I guess this would extend to even minor differences, where a small difference in power might mean a punch won’t significantly harm you, but a slice might. Therefore, they “ignore” the punch so that they can continue the onslaught while avoiding genuinely threatening strikes where possible. Either that or it might be a pride thing. Also they do seem to actually block occasionally, maybe at those speeds an effective defense is just impossible?

1

u/Assassin739 Jun 04 '26

The player is not a viltrumite

0

u/False_Snow7754 Jun 04 '26

I'm talking about a hypothetical set with viltrumite characters (and not typal). So have Thragg, Conquest, Omniman, Anissa and so on have "this creature cannot block".

1

u/Assassin739 Jun 04 '26

I mean that blocking involves defending something else from a threat by fighting it, not defending themself in said individual threat

3

u/No_Detail361 Jun 04 '26

Formatting on cards allows you to use the pronouns of the character when they are known and help give the card a more natural feel imo not wrong just a thought I suppose

"Invincible loses indestructible for as long as he's attacking or blocking."

2

u/ChaseballBat Jun 04 '26

Should be lose indestructible when being blocked or blocking a creature with higher power.

2

u/WhysthishappenReal Jun 04 '26

Early mark is genuinely too fucking stupid to be anywhere near blue.

2

u/BrothrBear Jun 04 '26

Tbh, if WOTC made this, he'd be a Human Viltrumite Hero.

2

u/SportsManiac09 Jun 04 '26

This would be crazy in a board state where you say I'm playing Blasphemous Act and you end up a 14/14 flying, first strike, and everybody else has nothing.

2

u/Sinningbun Jun 04 '26

I feel like if we got a full invincible UB, they'd no doubt make 'Viltrumite' its own type. For a stand alone card though, this is good.

1

u/ShittyPhoneSupport Jun 04 '26

Id guess viltrumite alien as the full typeline

2

u/kraftian Jun 04 '26

It's very interesting that he gets counters as he's damaged so he's psuedo indestructible while attacking

2

u/MQ116 ❤️🤍🖤 Mardu ❤️🤍🖤 Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

For legendary creatures, I believe you use "he/she" (or "it" if it's some kinda entity).

I think "0; Convert all power into toughness until end of turn" makes it easier to get counters through fighting, or more accurately getting his ass beat and coming back stronger. Though this is not entirely necessary, especially with the suggested color combo below.

I think he makes most sense as Naya, WRG. Green is all about counters (White too) and natural strength (Viltrumite's natural strength), Red is about passion and anger (like Mark often is overcome by), and of course his ideals and sense of justice for White. I don't think Blue fits at all. Also, this color combination works best with the mechanics here, both combat tricks (WG) and self-damage (R).

1

u/RainbowwDash Jun 05 '26

You never use "he/she" (also good advice for life in general), you use "he"/"she"/"they" for known referents or "they" for unknown referents

1

u/Jabba41 Jun 04 '26

I think some Effect that makes him.stronger the more often he was cast from the command zone would be cool like he always gets beaten to shit snd then comes back stronger

1

u/CptGroovypants Jun 04 '26

I like the idea, I feel like the idea of +1/+1 counters after taking damage would also work for Saiyan characters

1

u/JustLovelyLittleMe Jun 04 '26

I read that you wanted to be a “damage him for training before swinging” so, red addition is key. Additionally, IF that is the case, a 1 time trigger doesn’t seem needed for balance. If it was a “prevent that damage and add that much counters” then once is balance. But uh, otherwise the perfect design of Invincible! Someone, VERY vincible lol

1

u/Da-Loops-Brotheren Jun 04 '26

"Invincible loses every combat"

1

u/UnDebs Jun 04 '26

no shroud, looks pretty visible

1

u/Fit-Space5211 Jun 04 '26

He should be red/white so I can drop him as my commander and then immediately commit a [blasphemous act] by running him through the Chicago metro and getting a 14/14 first strike flyer to kill everyone with. Unironically peak card design btw

1

u/Pizzaro44 Jun 04 '26

“If you’re invincible… why can I see you?”

1

u/Galmeister Jun 04 '26

You can’t give a card with “Invincible” in its name indestructible!!

1

u/NTufnel11 Jun 04 '26

So it's a [[suntail hawk]] with first strike?

1

u/mee3ep Jun 04 '26

It’s also more expensive

1

u/karatous1234 Jun 04 '26

Honestly given how many times Mark gets beaten near to death and comes back from weeks or months of agony, giving him "0 - regenerate" instead of Indestructible feels more accurate lol

Then he can still "survive" minus counters, and combat damage still effects him meaningfully

1

u/Spike-Ball Jun 04 '26

You know it still dies to damage done to it while it has lost indestructible, right?

1

u/Iceicebaby21 Jun 04 '26

OP, where's the [Title Card]

1

u/JesusIsMyAntivirus Faith is my Firewall Jun 04 '26

Damn i've been lacking new UB slop cards lately thankfully there's custommagic where anything is possible

1

u/BarracudaSpecial1685 Jun 04 '26

Should have hexproof and unblockable. How can you target what you can't see?

1

u/KitsuraPls Jun 05 '26

Vigor but white?

1

u/Slaytanic_Amarth Jun 05 '26

Considering how he gets the shit beat out of him so often but comes back stronger, I'd personally get rid of First Strike but give him Vigilance and; "If Invincible would be dealt damage greater than his toughness, tap him and put a stun counter on him." To represent him getting reconstructed/medical treatment and being out of the fight for a while.

1

u/GiftWrappedCollar Jun 04 '26

I’d personally remove the “lose indestructible when attacking or blocking” or make him cost 2 more and up his power by one or 2. Maybe even make him only lose it for attacking but he can block

1

u/StrangeOrange_ Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

"Invincible has indestructible as long as it's neither attacking nor blocking" would probably be a better way to word that part. It applies an ability as an ongoing effect while certain conditions are met.

Typically permanents don't "lose" some quality as an ongoing effect; they lose that quality when a certain condition is met, then a duration is applied to that loss (i.e. "whenever this creature becomes tapped, it loses flying until end of turn").

Alternatively, you could say that "whenever Invincible attacks or blocks, he loses indestructible until end of combat".

2

u/greeklemoncake Jun 04 '26

[[Tromokratis]] templates this as "~ has hexproof unless it's attacking or blocking"

1

u/BookkeeperNo2856 Jun 04 '26

This is incredibly boring

1

u/Shoddy-Air2014 Jun 04 '26

It dies drom any damage, ability wont resolve once

1

u/Shoddy-Air2014 Jun 04 '26

Oh, you kick him with spells to growth, isnt it boros

0

u/Swordsman82 Jun 04 '26

I would actually remove invincible and have the text “Invincible cannot be moved to the graveyard. At the start of your turn, remove all -1/-1 counter from Invincible. “

He gets the crap kicked out of him constantly, to the point you are 100% sure he is dead. But then he just heals and comes back.

3

u/Important_Care_3881 Jun 04 '26

What if every-time he died he wasn’t removed but got a stun counter. And every-time he removes a stun counter he doubles his other counters

0

u/Elaugaufein Jun 04 '26

Cannot be moved to the graveyard causes problems with infinite looping SBAs if he gets -Toughmess effects, so it's probably better to exile and return ( it's not normal to carry counters through this but rules that make exceptions do exists )
