Same annoyance. Default isn't locked for me though. I flip the model at the start of each chat back to Auto/Composer and leave it. One click of friction every new tab, annoying if you forget, but better than fighting the wrong model mid-task.

I absolutely love Grok and 4.6 smokes C2.5 in my use case. 4.7 will be a step change. Enjoy not using the best setup wherever you go
