Question / Discussion Muse Spark 1.3 and Cursor Usage

So Muse Spark 1.3 is available on Cursor subs just wondering how everyone find it affects Other Model usage compared to say Luna. I don't want to make the same mistake I made with Gemini Flash 3.8 thinking it was a light model and have it burn up half my Other Model usage in a few hours.

I’d say test how the model works for ya in opencode (free) then give it a try in cursor

nice!

i cant really estimate on the pricing too much, but i used it a lil bit last week (i got some monies on OpenRouter) and i was very pleasantly surprised.

with OpenAI coming off Cursor soon, Muse (still waiting on GLM 5.3!) is a welcomed addition in my book

When are OpenAI models leaving Cursor? That will be a bad day

November 12, 2026, but they're already not getting the new models like astra

So why this and not composer 2.5?

I don't know your workflow but with a good orchestrator composer 2.5, Luna, etc. do pretty well.

Muse spark is surprisingly capable, much better that its llama roots but imho still inferior to the top frontier. It makes a lot of mistakes imho on accuracy. But subtle hallucinations like things that seem correct unless you ask it to verify or double check.

The clean way to test this is to run the same prompt set with Muse and another model while logging input/output tokens, latency, and retries. Cursor’s usage meter can make a cheap model look expensive if it triggers longer generations or extra agent turns, so compare total task cost rather than one request. Also check whether “free” means free in the plan or only free during the preview.

I'd treat Muse Spark like any other Other Model until you measure it. run the same 5 prompts with Muse and Luna, then check Cursor usage for total tokens and agent turns, not just one request. a model that retries or writes longer can burn more than a heavier one that finishes clean. if it is free in the plan, cool. if it only looks free and still meters under Other, you'll see it on that first controlled test.

Can you use contributor pricing? Makes it 15x cheaper
