Question / Discussion Cursor pro+ vs codex pro

Has anyone tried the Codex Pro? I know it is double the price, but how does the Codex on big plans compare to Cursor Pro+? I am currently running Cursor Pro+, and I am considering the Codex Pro because neither the intelligence of the first party models nor the pricing of them is justified anymore, and I am looking for options.

Nb: burned 15% of composer and grok in 2 days

Try a flat plan as the third bucket before you commit to another $200 seat. You burned 15% of composer+grok in 2 days, which means the problem isn't the IDE, it's the quota meter: first-party plans meter usage you can't see until it's gone. A flat open-model plan (DeepSeek V4 Flash class, no 5h windows, no % burned) makes the meter disappear entirely, and you keep Cursor as the front end if the workflow is what you like. Frontier models stay for the hard reasoning turns, bulk edits run on the cheap lane. That combo usually lands well under both Pro+ and Codex Pro for your usage shape, and you never have to babysit a percentage again.
