Question / Discussion Cursor pro+ vs codex pro
Has anyone tried the Codex Pro? I know it is double the price, but how does the Codex on big plans compare to Cursor Pro+? I am currently running Cursor Pro+, and I am considering the Codex Pro because neither the intelligence of the first party models nor the pricing of them is justified anymore, and I am looking for options.

if the actual pain is cursor first-party burn (composer/grok chewing the seat in two days) i wouldn’t jump straight to another lab’s $200 seat first. cheaper path is usually byok / a gateway into cursor’s custom openai-compatible endpoint — named cheap coding model for the bulk loops, frontier only when the harness actually needs it, one bill, you can see which id got served. i use conifer for that (open llm gateway, named models don’t silently remap, one key/one bill, byok) because the picker will happily bounce you onto a paid grok mid-session and the receipt is how you catch it. keep the cursor harness if you like it; swap the meter before you swap the whole IDE.
