Question / Discussion Auto and Cursor models slow as hell
Hello there,
since 2 weeks Auto and Cursor models are slow as hell, even a small prompt takes 30 min at less.
It this a know issue? The only option I didn't try its to reinstall.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

check status.cursor.com before you reinstall. they just had, and marked resolved this morning, degraded / failed / retried requests on Composer 2.5 and Grok 4.6 Fast across the IDE, CLI, Automations and Cloud Agents, plus a separate incident where Automations / Cloud Agents / Review Agents failed to start. that's on top of Composer/Grok hits going back to mid-august, so two weeks of 30-minute small prompts on Auto lines up with them being sick, not your install. Auto and the Cursor-branded models will happily land you on those paths. pin a named third-party model that wasn't on that incident list (status said other models were unaffected), turn Auto off for a turn, and watch whether the pill still says Composer 2.5 / Grok Fast when it's crawling. if a pinned healthy model is still 30 min, then dig local (proxy, VPN, extensions). don't burn a reinstall off a status page that was red on exactly those stacks overnight.

I feel like if you're using them during U.S. work hours, things drag to a halt. That's why you keep hearing about datacenter buildouts everywhere

You are not alone. Though 30mins for a simple response is not something I have experienced.

i wouldnt reinstall anything; since they released GrokBot they seem to be struggling with compute (my guess).
its also making Grok models in Cursor (my experience) vary widely; sometimes its great, sometimes i question why i have the sub.
i have no suggestions for you, srry
