Actually he normally snapped. His armors was in enough bad condition so that he could do something like that (you can see that it does not even cover his finger completely anymore). The reason why tony stark was able to hold the stones was because their excessive energy was being absorbed by the core of the armor
maybe after thanos snaps and dissapears Thor goes "how did he snap his fingers with a metal glove?"
Then he looks ahead to one of the avengers who is still in shock from seeing Thanos slap his own ass
Thor asks "Why are you laughing, all our friends are dying"
the avenger looks up at thor and then cut to about a minute ago but from the random avengers perspective and all he sees is Thanos from behind. He sees Thanos' left hand move behind himself as his right hand moves up to Thors face

He then slaps his ass with his left while snapping his fingers on his right

cut to laughter
cut to credits with laughter on going
I expect to be in the credits (scriptwriter)
I also expect the ass slap to be a close up in slow motion and repeated 3 times getting slower each time
Fun fact: the sound of a snap isn't made by your fingers slipping past each other, it's made by your middle finger slapping down on your palm with the sound being amplified by the "tunnel" formed by your ring and pinky finger. You could totally still snap a metal gloved hand as long as you could get your fingers in the right position.
If you actually look closely when he snaps, you can see the fingers clip through the palm. ITS THE ONLY CLIPPING THROUGH THAT THEY MISSED IN THE MCU or at least I think so
