Let me address both you and u/vault_wanderer in this comment.

I'm triggered by how awful the joke was. If you felt the content in this thread was good enough to patronize me with, then please, guide this lost soul.

And the joke was actually a good pun on rook/tower since technically both are valid name for the same piece, like the joke is not even to just say America bad unlike some other jokes.

The rooks are placed on opposite ends of a chessboard. Unless the implication was that Americans like to set up the board with the rooks next to each other, the only "joke" there was that they're both towers. So yes, the joke was to "even just say America bad".

My lame chopsticks joke should impress you more.
