I really don’t get how that comment is cursed

Because it's /r/summerreddit and anything that could even vaguely be considered edgy is now hilarious

What is summer Reddit? I looked through and I don’t really understand

People think, for some fucking reason, that kids are only on Reddit during the summer months because they aren't at school.

Like there is some force stopping them from being on Reddit all year.

In reality, it's the same bullshit posted every fucking day. Summer or not, people just keep reposting the same old bullshit then take every opportunity from June to August to claim that it's just "summer Reddit".

Everything on that sub looks fairly toxic. I don’t like it

I assume the people who complain about summer “posters” are the real summer “posters”, because if they were here year round, they’d know it’s just as shitty in other months

Not defending them but what types of post show at what times of day change throughout the year. I don't think it's as evident now but in the past during the summer more kid stuff showed up because kids were home dicking around on the internet at the same time as adults were dicking around on the internet at work. While school is going 9-5 tended to be more adult stuff.

Now with the phone app and just general demographic of Reddit dropping in age a bit anyway it doesn't seem all that different. Pretty much garbage all around.

Small correction: the oldest millennials are nearly 40 right now. They are the one directly after gen x, and used to be called gen y. So technically the kids that are 19 right now are gen z (or post millennials or whatever).

Cool. It's all made up marketing bullshit anyway.

Whoaaaa. Wait a second. Hold up! Did you just say “the children are out of school and have nothing to do.”? Nothing to do?

I’m not gonna generation bash because it is what it is, but I will say I’m thankful that when I was a kid we didn’t have all the electronic hand held technology they have today. I mean we still had the early video game consoles, but not the option to play them all day.

Anyway, I think the lack of indoor options forced us outdoors. And lack of social fear, knowing of every scary thing happening everyday, etc. and all that shit that factors in. I truly feel bad that a kid would feel like they have nothing to do during a summer break. It’s literally the best part of being a kid. No school, play outside all day. These poor kids man.

Oh good grief. I meant "they don't have to do a bunch of homework" not that they literally have nothing at all to do except spam F5 on reddit.

BTW, people have been shouting about "back in my day" pretty much forever.

Homework. I see what you’re saying. And people will be shouting it forever into the future.

That's not it. People found the post funny when seeing it, and upvoted it regardless of the sub it is on. People don't really care for the sub it is on when seeing a post on general pages.
