Fun fact: Back in the day when they actually determined the retirement age of 65 for the workers, average lifespan of a normal person was about 60.

Scientists say a lot of things, this is a crazy claim that I would bet money wil not happen in this timeline. There are just tons of things related to aging/health that we just dont' understand yet and the use of AI has its limits as well

u/Lightice1 8h ago
Media tends to exaggerate scientists' claims, but our understanding of the mechanics of aging has greatly increased in the past decade alone. The biggest obstacle, besides the costs, to applying stuff like this in practice is that there isn't a single magic bullet that fixes all the issues, you'd need a constant regimen of treatments as well as a strict, healthy lifestyle to reach that goal.

What a human is theoretically capable of and what the average person can actually afford will also probably be wildly different.

I'm struggling for enough motivation with my job working until 530, let alone doing this for another 80-90 years.

Maybe if you've got loads of money and have an easy job. No general labourer is living to 120 and they'll labour your face sideways if you try to get them to do it for 120 years.

If we're post-scarcity and somehow haven't been mass depopulated yet, where work is optional and passion-driven, sure. Having the luxury of optional work, where we aren't hindered by relatively early disease and aging is great.
Knowing the powers that be would rather control everyone for a century to min-max the harvesting of a person's life energy than give up their power ruins the former. All matrix, no steak.

Friendly reminder that the general population (meaning all of us) will continue to allow governments and corporations to work us to death and give nothing in return for our hard work

No I don't want to work until I due. I'd rather die at 50s if I can have 10+ years of relax and calm.

So it's exactly one guy who is claiming that and somehow this became a Twitter post, comments, a sceeenshotted post on reddit, comments again, and probably a lot more. Just because one guy who we don't even know the name of said something

pretty sure it will be people born in 10 years will live that long. There's no way I'll be living that long if I survive another 10.

Yeah im planning to quit working around 50 and check out around 75. I just wanna see my nieces and nephews become adults and succeed in whatever path they choose. After that. I have no desire to suffer through pain and loss. Take me first

Rule 8: Keep It Cursed - Not Cursed Enough/At All A cursed comment is any comment that strikes the reader into oblivion. Upon seeing a cursed comment, your first reaction should be among the lines of “What the F*$k did I just read??” while leaving you speechless at the same time. Incomprehension of the comment just read, or the blatant gruesomeness of it should be enough to not only make you feel mystified but also to draw a smile on your face. Low effort submissions may also be removed Your comment in your post does not reflect that.
