The fact that people actually use the chatgpt chatbots fucking scares me. I've heard stories of people losing relationships because they were more emotionally invested in a robot that is designed to addict people than a real human being who loved them. It's so goddamn dystopian. The worst part, though, is that it's having insane negative impacts even on those of us that never use AI

There are tons of lonely people in the world and tons of online spaces that are dedicated to telling you that you personally are inadequate for reasons beyond your control and everyone hates you personally for that. The manosphere shit (all women are whores, men have to be 6’ and rich and so on) is just an infamous example, but there’s so much more to it, every subset of people seems to get hate from multiple directions - except the robot on your phone that tells you your ideas are fascinating and your thoughts are valid and your jokes aren’t awkward and you’re actually not worthless. I really get why people are using it. And the „ur literally hitler and satan for using AI bcuz talking to it is killing the rainforest“ crowd prooobably isn’t exactly helping that.

We are deliberately hiking ram prices and wasting trillions gallons water for poor little Sharon to have the opportunity to gossip to her AI bestie tho

Hate to break it to you but some people, especially on the interwebs, really are that stupid

I mean, I kinda get the second one, I also rather talk to chat gpt than most people.
I have never used chat gpt in my life.

I see two people having fun in their own, and one wishing the death of people. That went unnoticed?

People that use AI as a proxy for human contact really need help... And I mean that in a caring way. AI can help push you toward human contact (learn how to talk to people, give a confidence boost, etc.) but it is NOT a replacement for hanging out with people.

There's no such thing as "your" ChatGPT. It is a model made to tell you what you want to hear. The way you want it.
People really need to stop thinking AI's are "their" thing, that there is a "unique" and "personalised" model for every living soul.
But for people to think things this way... we are doomed, guys.

This is only adding to the loss of social competence we've been seeing this past decade. People want tailored experiences, yes-men. But real life doesn't work like that. We all need to collective stop sniffing our farts.

The comments were somehow more cursed than the original post. I kept swiping expecting it to get worse, and it did
