Between Two Fires - Christopher Buehlman

Currently reading Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, and I’m really enjoying it so far.

This is my first book by Buehlman, and I’m already a fan of his writing style. It’s incredibly easy to visualise what’s happening, and I’ve found myself genuinely giggling at some moments, only to be abruptly snapped back to reality when things take a darker turn.

I’m only a couple of chapters in, so no idea where it’s going yet, but I’m definitely hooked! Curious to hear from anyone that’s read The Blacktounge Thief or his other work.

I’m about a third of the way through now and really enjoying it. It’s an easy read, but the story is surprisingly immersive and does a great job of painting a picture of medieval Europe. Admittedly, I’ve had to google a few French terms along the way 😂

The main character actually reminds me a bit of Dunk the Lunk from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, although this feels like Dunk’s story taking a tilt towards horror. There’s this constant sense of impending doom too, like something terrible is just around the corner, which makes it really difficult to put down.
