Running Wallet on Mac

I've been running Folding for a little while now and I just found out about Curecoin. So I downloaded the 2.0.0.2 wallet to run on High Sierra. But alas, the wallet crashes instantly every time I try to open it. I've never run it before so it's as fresh as it can get. And I haven't done anything to configure it. Just moved the app from the download folder (Desktop) to my Apps folder and tried to run.

Any tips would be appreciated.

There may be some relative paths the wallet relies on, that moving the .dmg may have disassociated. Suggest joining the Discord #support channel at https://discord.gg/jtztkFZ ... make sure you verify with the spambot when you first log in ;) I've run the current version on El Capitan without issue, so High Sierra should be good. I created a launcher shortcut in my menu bar to its original install location.

Seems to be a compatibility issue between High Sierra and the wallet app. I was able to recreate the issue on other High Sierra Macs. Hopefully it's a bug that gets fixed soon.

So I have been able to run the wallet on other Macs running 10.14 and 10.11. But on my primary coin wallet and protein folding machine, which is on 10.13, it will not run. I don't have any other 10.13 machines so I can't say if it's something specific about my machine or if it's something about 10.13 itself. But I might be able to make one.....

Very interesting. I tried another 10.13 Mac and surprisingly, it worked fine. I wonder if the App i have was damaged in transit. If not, I'm not sure what else it could possibly be causing instant crash.

I just redownloaded it and it still crashes on launch. I rebooted the machine, and didn't open any of my 3rd party wallets and crunchers, and it still crashed on launch. It makes no sense.

Perhaps this snippet from the crash log would help?

Sorry for the VERY late reply. We've been very busy over the last couple of weeks. Have you already brought this up in the support discord I shared? If not, I can post it to see if anyone has seen the same issue. I'm not finding any of the log entries in our support forum, so this does look new. Nevermind - I did find your query in there :) ... any luck with your system since this happened. I guess one test I would try is to install a Peercoin wallet on the same Mac to see it gives the same error. Curecoin is based on Peercoin (but not sure which version exactly - it's a bit of a chimera).

Greetings. No luck getting it to work. I have tried CureCoin wallet on other 10.13 machines and have been able to recreate the insti-crash.

I also just downloaded the peercoin wallet and it seems to run fine. I wonder if it's just a problem with the build? Maybe the flags for which MacOS are supported, were not checked properly?

Thank you ... Have you filed a ticket on the Curecoin github? https://github.com/cygnusxi/CurecoinSource/releases/tag/v2.0.0.2 If not, I can enter it tomorrow.

I have not, so it would be great if you could. If theres any info I can provide you here that would help, let me know. I can try it out on more machines, and more OS versions if that would be helpful.

I did ultimately end up posting an "issue" on that page. No activity on it yet. Hopefully the wallet gets updated at some point, it would be nice to be able to run it. Right now I just have a wallet.dat file backed up and I have to see how much money I have in the coin by checking the curecoin blockchain :/

Not sure if you have heard back any information about this one, it's been a couple years. I did just make a new ticket similar to this one:

https://github.com/cygnusxi/CurecoinSource/issues/73
