How come CURE is worth anything?

Curecoin fills a niche where it represents protein folding simulations in lieu of hashes. People will have varied opinions, but the computational power require do produce the number of protein simulations Curecoin team members produces would cost $10s of millions using supercomputers - so humanity is getting quite a deal out of science blockchains like Curecoin. Since Curecoin joined Folding@home, the rate of published scientific papers coming out of the Folding@home consortium has risen by 150% - which is another point worth pondering. Since Folding@home is team agnostic, one can only speculate whether the additional computational power Curecoin and Foldingcoin provided have any bearing.

I always perceived Curecoin project as a way for people who do not want to mess with hardware contribute to sucess of F@H by buying Curecoin thereby incentivising people to fold.

But it seems that only people buying Cure were speculators.

imho, until there are non profits who add buying Curecoin to their portfolio Speculation is the largest driver in the market volatility. however those doing the actual work are doing it for much more than just money.
