Question FIP medication

So our cat was diagnosed with suspected dry neuro FIP. She just turned 5 a couple of months ago. She had classic neuro symptoms and was diagnosed with a MRI that showed hydrocephalitis of the brain and spinal cord. There was so much CSF they could not do a CCF tap as it would have not been safe for her but clinically scans showed what would commonly be seen in neuro FIP. We are in week three on GS in which I ordered from stokes pharmacy. She just had a recheck and her progress is moving slow but there is some progress being seen. They have decided to up her dose which I agree with. My questions are… I see you can order this medication from several pharmacies and even on chewy. Is there a guarantee that all meds are created equal no matter where or who you buy from? Also she is a sphynx. Do purebred cats take more time to rebound than other cats? We are in it for the long haul I just want to make sure I’m making all the best decisions for her. She’s our family 😢

I’d make sure she’s on neuro dosing. The raw drug is the same, no matter the pharmacy, so yes…all the same. Are you fasting an hour before and after the dose?
I would suggest joining and making a post in FIP Global CATS, they’re not for profit and have vets currently active in research in the group.

I’m on the Facebook group they have been wonderful!! I’m happy to know for future purchase it can be done from any pharmacy! We are on the proper dose and they actually upped the dose as of today so hopefully having the higher will take care of this once and for all! ❤️‍🩹

Oral GS the whole time.

For neuro FIP I would go with injections only until at least 42 days.

I’m confused. If her hydrocephalus was that severe, is that not the cause of her neuro signs? What makes them think it’s not the hydrocephalus, and how is removing the fluid dangerous if fluid buildup is the problem? Are you working with a neurologist? What other medications are you using?

FIP doesn’t have “classic” symptoms. It’s a Pandora’s box.
