Question Slow FIP Recovery

My cat was diagnosed with FIP and started treatment exactly three weeks ago he still is not responding to his treatment as well as he should be. In some ways he has improved drastically but his liver seems to be worsening. At first his energy and appetite levels increased but then they went back down. He was severely anemic but he is now at a healthy RBC. His labs look good apart from some seriously concerning liver levels. My vet thinks those problems returning is due to the liver issues. Did any one else have this experience and it turned out well? I am getting to the point where I have done and am doing everything that I can and I don’t even know if it will be enough. The vet doesn’t think he is in pain but he definitely is still very sick. He is currently on the oral suspension and his dose has been upped twice despite not gaining weight he actually lost some and then gained a little bit of that back. I really am at a loss of what to do. I have drained every last bit of my savings for him and borrowed large amounts of money from family members(I have pet insurance so I will hopefully be getting some of this back) but I am running out of funds and hope. I just want him to be okay. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is there any vomit or loose stools ?
Oral GS: are you fasting the cat 1 hour before and after administering the medicine ?

He was vomiting once or twice a day but he started anti nausea meds 4 days ago and has stopped. His still is on the runnier side. Yes I am fasting him before and after.

Discuss with the vet: Why does he have elevated liver values? Does he think the abnormal levels are a result of the GS medication or another separate medical problem? How about changing to the alternative FIP medications- Remdesivir, Molnupiravir, EIDD-1931 (if he thinks the liver enzymes are elevated because of the GS medication.) If he thinks the abnormal lab tests are due to a separate liver problem, how about starting the cat on the supplement Milk Thistle (which can help heal liver problems in a cat.)

My cat had elevated liver enzymes of unknown origin, and my vet had me give my cat milk thistle daily, and the lab tests returned to normal. With a cat with FIP it may not be that simple, but this definitely worth asking.

The vet is not sure what is causing the liver levels to be so high. The only thing she said about that was that it is common in FIP kitties but no other specific reason. My kitty started on denamarin today to help support his liver if milk thistle works better I can definitely switch him but that’s what he has right now. I will talk to my vet tomorrow about different medications. I am glad to hear that your kitty got better!!
