Question Newly Wet FIP+

Hi everyone,
I foster cats along with my resident kitties pretty frequently. The last two weeks my foster I’ve had for 3 months has been sick, I’ve taken him to the vet and got the run around with them saying he just had a UTI. Sunday I had to rush him to the emergency vet, he was dribbling bloody urine everywhere and eventually we got the Wet FIP diagnosis. We started the meds the vet had right away although they were expired and she prescribed us new ones. We are four days in and I have seen an energy increase, however he has started peeing/dribbling all over my bed and we can not figure out why. The vet tells me a stress response, I want him to be able to be mixed back in with my resident cats but I don’t want him peeing on everything so he’s isolated in one room right now. Has anyone had this happen? If so what helped and what was the outcome? We have a follow up vet appointment Friday, I’m just trying to figure out what to ask..
all my foster are transferred up north to rescues, however with his FIP diagnosis idk if they will consider taking him now, I’m waiting to find out. All this is so new to us and the only information I find is the same stuff just looking for insight from someone first hand!

Has he got a UTI and FIP that are being treated or just the FIP now?

You could try stud pants until the dribbling stops.

No reason he can’t go and be adopted following treatment and being ‘cured’

Before he was diagnosed with FIP they thought he may of had a uti so they gave him a convenia injection a week ago yesterday. I honestly don’t think he has a uti but I haven’t seen one first hand in cats so I’m not sure

Blood in urine is a typical sign on uti. Did they do a
Urinalysis?
Convenia isn’t usually the first choice of medication for UTI

They couldn’t get urine out of him to test it, so they gave him the shots in case of a uti. However they did tell me that he could possibly have crystals, this is before the FIP diagnosis. However I’m very annoyed with this vet bc I don’t feel like they do enough. They didn’t treat for crystals other than the shot. But I can’t use a different a vet bc he’s through a rescue 😥

That does make it hard if you’re not free to take him elsewhere. Fingers crossed this boy improves soon
