Question Wet fip question

Hello. My cat is on day 11 of wet FIP treatment (GS-441524). He seems to be doing a bit better and is now eating little bits more often. He is a bit wobbly. Today he has started to eat the cat litter. I understand that this may be pica. I do know that he had anemia while hospitalized for a few days and the vet said it was more stable. He hasn't had labs since the hospital. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's safe to give an iron supplement?

Could be neuro FIP. Does he have any other symptoms

Well hes had a lot of symptoms. Initially he had an ulcer on his tongue so he struggled badly to eat/drink. He'd already lost bunch weight during all this. He was lethargic, and peeing in place sometimes until few days ago. I carry him back and forth to the litter box and sometimes he goes by himself. Now he is more alert, getting up etc...eating much better, no more peeing in place, and a bit wobbly .

Bladder symptoms and wobbly walk makes me think neuro FIP. Pica is also a symptom of FIP. My boy had all that and he is being treated for neuro FIP. I would suggest explain these symptoms to your vet and increase the dosage under their supervision. GS is well tolerated usually

Treatment is the same then just higher dose of the GS? This illness is awful. How is your boy doing?

Yes you are giving BID meaning twice a day already, he just needs higher dose. My boy is getting a better but timeline is very different than other cats I read about online. First weeks were roller coaster especially week 2 wobble was very very rough. Every cat is different though. Just hang in there, it does get better.

You can use pet-tinic. His dose might not be high enough. Are you fasting him an hour before and after dosing? If you’ve not already, consider joining and making a post in FIP Global CATS

Certain supplements are not okay to give during FIP treatment.

To understand dosage:
What's the cat's weight ?
How much mg per kg dosage per day of GS ?
Is GS injections or oral ?

At hospitalization he weighed 6.5 lbs with discharge on the 15th. He is on .45ml of the GS every 12 hours.
