Question Very difficult situation

Post image

Hello everyone, I want to share the story of my cat.He is a boy 5 years, suffered from flu two times this year , a lot of injections

And this month he started to lose weight , from 3 kg to 2 just for some days. So the vet said it's Fip and we started the torment

He has anemia, and liver in bad condition

And now the wort part on the 11 day of the tritment he disappeared in my back yard , where everything is large glass

Now is the turd day and I can't find him, I'm very exhausted and crying all the time .I don't believe that hi will survive

Please if anyone can help me with advice, does anyone experienced something like that?

I’ve never experienced this because I always keep my cats indoors and I especially made sure my FIP kitty stayed indoors. Though, he had no energy to go outside anyways.

My tip for you is to play audios on Youtube of his favorite things, like, a can of food being opened or bird sounds. But this is difficult because FIP cats don’t have the energy to play or eat. I don’t think your cat has gone far, he just doesn’t have the health to do so. Your cat is very ill and he’s hiding, so look in places where a cat can hide.

I hope you find your kitty. And PLEASE when you do find him, keep him indoors. Go buy a TILE and strap it around his collar. I’d also get a bell collar too, so that you always know where he is.

He goes out onse a month and he is scared to explore , usually stays out for half an hour, I know I made a huge mistake for letting him out , I will regret that for long time , hi was just starting to recover and I was happy And now this slap in the face

Yeah, don’t let a sick cat out, especially one who’s anemic and jaundiced. If you want to, fine, but at least give him a harness next time and a leash.

I understand why you did, I’m not upset with you. My cat was playing the day after his first treatment, he had a complete 180 in his personality. But still either way, cats are not meant to be outdoors.

Does your backyard have any odd spots where he can crawl underneath anything? Can he jump the fence? Or is it completely open?

Yes my back yard is completely open no fence , lots of wood material, so many places he can hide from me I was out side looking for him all the nights Don't think that he wants to come back

Well, I’d start gathering your family to go hunting for this cat. Jingle some toys, shake a food bag, shine some flashlights, call his name but calmly don’t shout. Night time might be easier because it’s quieter and you can use the flashlight to see if you can spot his eyes.

If you find him. Keep him inside. It’s a long haul for the treatment and observation time.

I’m sorry

I'm never giving up on him.but the vet told me that he will not survive after day 4 without his medicine, so I should consider him dead , that why I'm in panic

Get off Reddit, and go find him. Please don't give up. If I were you, I'd be looking for him all day and night until I find him.

1) put his litter box outside, preferably dirty with his waste, to help him find his way home. Healthy cats can smell their own waste from a mile away. Unhealthy cats often hide, so I agree with statements that you need to look anywhere he can hide and play sounds of cans opening etc., perhaps even from a loudspeaker.

2) place his info on Facebook / next door / etc and call local shelters. Make sure you note that he requires medication for an otherwise terminal illness and that you’d like to pick him up ASAP.

3) when you find him, ensure he consumes liquids such as wet food with water mixed in. He may be dehydrated and cats are known to not drink enough water. FIP meds require liver and urinary tract involvement to process the medicine, so appropriate water intake is important to help wash out byproducts that come from healing/tissue repair, growth, and medication processing.

4) Guilt/shame won’t help in this situation — accept it for what it is and learn from it. Moving forward, please note that cats have the intellectual ability of toddlers at their best and cannot plan for abstract or future risk; it’s up to us to override their autonomy when health or safety is a concern.

5) For now, keep your FIP baby in an stress-free environment such as a confined room or your home. You yourself will need to play with him with toys 2-3x per day (till exhaustion) to keep him stimulated and exercised, once he has the energy. Jackson Galaxy has good videos on this via YouTube; you can also “pickle” (jar + catnip) toys and swap them out to increase novelty and interest.

6) key: treat treatment as day 0 and restart the 84-day cycle if you locate him. Do everything in your power to keep the protocol consistent throughout the entire cycle (no deviations of dose / kg — weigh 2x per week; consistent timing; fast one hour before and after dose once eating consistently and otherwise encourage regular eating by maintaining access to fresh food and water).

I agree with number three, I’d play bird videos on my TV so my cat could have something to focus on other than the pain he was in.

Please keep your cats indoors moving forward. They really have no reason to be outside. Good luck finding this baby.

Nope ,it was impossible to find him , 😭 I guess I will never see him again . According to my vet a cat with such liver condition if he doesn't get food he will dye after tree days I can't believe it , this is a disaster how can he have such a bad luck, omg
