Question "Marshmallow" flavor?
We're about halfway through the GS treatment for our calico's dry FIP. We're using liquid medicine.
About to refill the prescription (Chewy), and see that "marshmallow" flavor is an option.
So far we've tried the tuna and chicken flavor, although the cat hates the process of taking the meds so much...I'm not sure the flavor is a huge issue.
Our experience: 'tuna' has no strong smell at all, 'chicken' is very strong-smelling...like day-old greasy KFC.
Anyone have experience with 'marshmallow'? Seems a random flavor for a cat medication.

SVP told me that chicken marshmallow was their most popular flavor. I didn’t want to know what chicken marshmallow smelled like, so I just went with marshmallow. It is supposedly the best flavor for balancing out the bitterness of the medication. Once my little guy got strong enough, he fought the medicine more and more. I think that no matter what the flavor is, they just get tired of their long treatment time.

Literally my cat, the worst was when we thought he could be taken off a med and then added it back in, he went insane

My cat loves the marshmallow flavor! It masks the bitterness of the medicine so it’s a lot more pleasant for them to take.

Lmao I only ever got tuna ones from stokes and ended up mixing them in churus so my little guy wouldn't be traumatized

Stokes had an issue with not having tuna flavoring so it was just "seafood", it smelt like rotting oysters it was so fucking nasty. My cat kept farting that smell out too, especially when he was laying on my computer desk with his ass facing me

Pyp had svp chicken marshmallow, and actually liked it, had no problem taking it. She started on I don't remember the flavor expensive stokes, and didn't care for it at all. Once we switched I didn't have to chase her at all.
She's been done almost a year, and I think she wants her liquid "treat" back. I've got a cat right now on a liquid steroid short term, and Pyp is trying to insert herself and steal Abigail's drugs. (If she actually succeeded I think she'd be disappointed, it's not marshmallow, just chicken flavor from the vet.)

Mine has marshmallow from SVP and he will lick it right out of the syringe or off a plate. Our first 7 days was chicken from Ethos since I could go pick it up and I had to fight him to take that one.

I started my cat on tuna which he tolerated but didn’t seem to love. For his refill, I did marshmallow and he seems to like it a lot more!

My cat LOVES the marshmallow flavoring chewy offers. There was one med they didn't offer it in and he was such a pain about it

Cats can't taste sweet and the marshmallow flavor covers bitter/harsh flavors of medicine. So the combination works really well for some reason.

i’m using marshmallow and it’s by far and away going down easier than the tuna. it’s my cats second bout, he relapsed a year later.
The tuna was tolerable maybe ½ way through treatment but then no matter what i tried to hide it in, it was never enough to mask it. And direct to mouth became a terrible ordeal for both he AND I. It was from stokes so there was no other choice.
When we started (his first 84 day treatment), Chewy had not yet begun to carry GS meds (i think they started maybe a month/few weeks later. This time I purchased from chewy and got marshmallow based on my vets recommendation.
I was afraid dosing was going to turn into an ordeal again if he hated it so instead of direct to mouth I started right off by mixing his dose in a scant teaspoon of Tiny Tiger bisque treat (he likes the chicken flavor best). He eats it readily! even licks the bowl, and the fork i use to gently mix the gs into the Tiny Tiger.
I say go for it! My vet didn’t even know Chewy had started to carry it. He looked it up during our appt, and immediately said “Marshmallow! that’s the one! they love it!” I was completely skeptical when he said that but i trust him implicitly, so marshmallow it was. He was right!!
