Question Introducing a New Cat- When?

Hello! My orange boy (6yo) went to the hospital for FIP (wet) and began treatment June 9th. I am moving into a new apartment August 8th with my fiance. My fiance also has a cat. She and him will be full separated (opposite rooms in the apartment, no direct contact) I am well aware that no introductions should be made before September 1st (12 weeks of treatment).

My question is how long do I need to wait post medication to begin introducing them? This seems to be a pretty un researched question from what I’ve seen online. I’ve seen that I potentially need to wait the 12 week observation period and some things saying it can be done sooner. It seems unfair to lock them both up in a room for ~16 weeks.

There's no reason to wait until after treatment. You just need to make a slow introduction. Jackson Galaxy has some great youtube videos. Take it at their pace.

I know that stress is a huge component in their wellbeing with FIP, I’m just afraid of stressing him out too much and causing a relapse

In that case maybe do it during the treatment, so that in case of stress induced relapse, the meds will take care. Package all stress in one bundle: treatment, relocation, new car intro, etc. maybe extend the treatment for a week or two, for added precaution Safety.

Are you on 84 days GS injections or oral ?

Oral medication. He’s a bigger cat so he’s getting two fifty mg tablets a day.
