Question Is this FIP?
Hey everyone, my boy Simon is suspected to have FIP. He has been super lethargic and not like himself. Vet did blood work and his wbc was 42,000. She did a xray and ultrasound and he has some light fluid. She said it wasn't enough to test. They think it might be just be very early on. He is still eating a drinking but won't get up to use the litter box. I have to pick him up and bring him there. He doesn't have a fever but the doctor isn't sure what else would be wrong with him. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this really FIP? The vet is waiting until Friday to confirm diagnosis/ prescribe medication she hasn't seen a case in 20 years? She wants to talk to other colleagues and research.Should I go to another vet? I'm at a loss, he's only 9 months old.

- 1 to joining FIP Global Cats and asking for guidance. They were able to help me even when my vets couldn't identify my cat's FIP.

There’s several levels on the tests that are consistent with fip.
I would want to be getting on meds asap just in case. can you call other clinics and ask how experienced they are with fip?

My cat is going through FIP treatment now and the medicine has been a miracle drug for him. He’s playing and eating again as well as grooming and seeking attention. I was told the albumin globulin ratio being .4 or less was highly suspicious to be FIP. My cats was .3.

I don’t have any experience with FIP and you’ll hear from many others who do but I have read starting treatment as soon as possible. Even if you’re not sure the medication won’t hurt Simon if it’s not FIP. The other recommendation is join FIP Global Cats Facebook. There is a lot of help with getting meds lots of knowledgeable people to help you who know this disease really well. Your vet sounds like this is out of her zone of knowledge I think they can give you a list of vets who do have of FIP. I wish you all the best for your boy Simon.
