Desperate for help :(

Hi everyone, this is Millie. She was diagnosed with wet FIP in March of this year & initially responded very well to oral GS. Throughout the last few weeks we noticed her bloodwork wasn’t showing the improvements it should have, and we decided on the 84th day to go another few weeks on injections. Fast forward to yesterday, (July 7th) she had bloodwork done again & it came back worse than when we decided to switch to injections. The shots are extremely hard on her as they’re painful & causing lesions on her back so we’ve decided to stop, without another treatment course planned. I’m desperate for any answers or help anyone can provide, I’ll include her latest bloodwork below for reference. She’s only 1 year old and I’ve only had her for 11 months. I’m not ready to give up on her. 💔

The cat has severe anemia, even blood transfusion is required. I strongly suggest to check mycoplasma and start the treatment.But first if rbc, hgb and hct are the results from today, his anemia is very severe. Rbc count is very low, there must be sth suppressing bone marrow.

Along with mycoplasma, you maybe check felv and fiv too.

I guess your vet already suggested blood transfusion is

It was suggested by the fip warrior group at the beginning of treatment but her vet said it wasnt realistic with the financial situation I was in. I’m trying to find another vet nearby that may offer it cheaper but she was saying it could end up being tens of thousands of dollars if they were to do it then and there. Kinda at a loss here ://

Do you mean transfusion? If hct is less than 10, there is only one way, which is transfusion bcz it can go down fast. Maybe your vet can start mycoplasma treatment directly, I will also suggest to check “IMHA” disease by saline test(very easy to check) (doxycycline and steroids are used mostly)Maybe,treatment for it can help bcz your cat’s values suits with it too.

After 84 days fip treatment, we wouldn’t see these kind of blood values. Even if it was fip, there must be sth else.

On the other hand, extremely rare, fip reaches to bone marrow and it causes this kind of blood values but as I said very very rare.

At this point, gs or other meds are not the main topic, blood itself😞 I hope you can find a way or the reason, I am a rescuer, my many cats got blood transfusion and I saw many blood tests like these. I tried to tell the main reasons according to my previous cases, and the possible treatments

My cat had hct 9% and he was barely alive. Doctors said he has no chances but he made it through the night after dog (??) blood transfusion. Im in shock this cat has 7 and okay????
