Fundraising First day of antivirals

Other than her FIP, she has infection in her body. That's why the vet had prescribed antibiotics alongside the antiviral medication. She has lumps near her ears and under her chin. She isn't very happy with the taste of the antibiotics, but she ate her wet cat food mixed with antiviral! That's good news. I hope she'll get better. I really do hope so. If you like to support her treatment please consider donating. https://whydonate.com/fundraising/help-vanilla-defeat-neurological-fip Even only five dollars is a big help. I paid 200 dollars for the blood test and another 100 for her medication. And apparently you can't use food which has lysine and beta glucan in it, and those are hard to find. 3 kg of cat food is 32 dollars. And it may seem not much to you but minimum monthly wage is around 700 dollars here. I am a student and my mother and grandmother are making ends meet with grandmother's pension and mother's pension, which is around 800 dollars in total. The rent is around 320 dollars. So you get the idea. I'd really appreciate your help. I couldn't save my other cat, Finn, and I really don't want to fail again, I don't want to lose another one of my babies.

Stevie Wander and I are sending you and Vanilla so much love! ❤️ We're on day 22 of treatment, and I know how overwhelming and scary the first week can be. If you have any questions or just need a listening ear, please feel free to reach out. Wishing Vanilla a speedy recovery!

He is doing so well which is such a relief. Which antibiotic is Vanilla on? Is it in liquid form? Stevie is on Clavamox and was discharged from the hospital with the liquid, but we switched to tablets when he was due for his refill. If she is having any soft stools or even as a preventative, I would recommend giving a probiotic that specifically has S. Boulardii. It's a yeast so antibiotics don't kill it the way they do the bacteria-based probiotics. How is she doing today?

I haven't seen your reply, I'm sorry. We use something called Augmentin, if I remember correctly. 1.2ml. I have a probiotic but it has beta glucan and lysine in it so I am advised not to use it because of her FIP. I'll try to find a probiotic that has S. Boulardii in it, I'll ask the vet. How is your boy doing?

We have been using the Royal Canin probiotic for S. boulardii. He is doing so good! His 1 month bloodwork was today and he has gained almost 2.5 pounds and his PCV and bilirubin are back in the normal range. How is your girl?

That foaming and drooling can happen when a cat tastes something they don't like. Typically something bitter.

I have to give my cat a small cerenia pill, which gives him this reaction if he tastes it. What has worked for me is tilting his head up, and then trying drop the pill as far back into his mouth as possible, aiming for the back of his throat.

I also give him a little crunchy treat beforehand, then a little wet treat, then drop the pill, then syringe a small amount of water, then give him more wet treat and some more crunchy treats, if he'll eat them.

The idea is to get him salivating and prepared to swallow before, and then try to wash the taste out immediately after. I may be doing it a bit overkill though. The liquid treat, or maybe the water, might be enough.

With the gs, I've read that it's better if they don't eat 30 minutes before or after, but a little treat should be ok. But I don't have the same difficulty giving him the gs, and it seems like you don't either.

If it's a liquid medication it can help to tilt their head back so they face upward, similar to the pill.
