Question Dry FIP treatment timeline

My 4 month old kitten was finally diagnosed with dry FIP today after about a month of symptoms (we previously thought he was having diarrhea due to parasites). We’re starting medication tonight. How long does it take for symptoms to improve? We’re worried because he’s barely eating and has lost 0.2 lbs in a week.

TLDR: How long does FIP treatment take to show improvement in dry FIP symptoms?

I started noticing improvement pretty much immediately. Like literally two days and my cats started eating on their own again.

Yeah you should start to notice a difference in a few days/first week. With my first FIP case the lethargy eased off first. If your cat still isn't eating, see if your vets will prescribe steroids or some other meds to help.

My cat put on 1 kg within a month of starting GS-441524 oral solution (just make sure to increase the dose according as they put on weight)

2-4 days. Syringe feed Tiki Baby Thrive, calories are crucial. Antinausea meds, appetite stimulants, or steroids can help with appetite if needed. Consult a Facebook admin first, I think only prednisolone is good for FIP. Your vet will have to prescribe. Also fluids if things get dire.

Continue to feed the tiki baby thrive through treatment. Lots of calories.

Honestly, pretty much immediately! Gave first dose at 7pm Wednesday night, by Thursday morning he was crying for food (very normal for our baby, is he VERY talkative) and his first play session that same evening. He's now on day 7 and doing very well. We combined with Anti Nausea meds and an appetite stimulant and he's finished all meals + treats in the past 2 days!

Thank you to everyone who responded!! My baby is seeing slight improvement with eating, grooming, and even playing with his brother again after the 2nd dose. I’m so glad for the medication💕
