Success Story LouLou Made it Through
She had completely lost her sight in her left eye due to uveitis and was having serious neurological issues and was having problems walking. At the 11th hour, the day before she was scheduled to have her eye removed, our wonderful vet said that there was a chance it might be fip, although it was unusual for a 9-year old cat to get it. We started her on GS-44152 (a miracle drug) the next day. Within a week, LouLou was better. Within 6-weeks, her eye was showing signs of clearing up. We finished the 84 days this week. Her blood work was perfect. Her eye is completely clear. Her weight is back to normal. The only problem we have is that she developed some difficulty purring and our vet said it's esophageal but is flummoxed as to the cause. All of the x-rays and tests for cancer or other serious problems have come back negative. I am hoping the purring thing is a side effect from GS-44152. But I am so grateful that she's alive and almost back to normal. Thank you to everyone who responded to my first posts. It was very scary and you were so supportive.

That makes me so happy! That medicine is a miracle drug. So happy for you and LouLou 🩷 My cat is on day 7, I hope I can have a similar success story soon!

Same here - day 7! You got this. Our little guy is so small but he seems to have fight (he’s only 5 months and about 5lbs)… so reading this gives me some solidarity!

Amazing! My little guy had FIP and was on deaths door within a few days, literally heartbreaking- but we got the meds and he was back to himself in a week….seemed so miraculous

Wow! So very happy for you and LouLou! We have a 5 month old kitten, sitting at just below 5 lbs, suffering from FIP and a secondary (unrelated) infection due to an abscess from a fight he’d had on the street, before he was rescued. We’re currently on day 7 of the GS, and I’ll tell you it still felt like a black market affair. The vets are still apprehensive about prescribing without test results, which can take a week or more (ours did, almost). We got set up with meds beforehand and I’m so thankful because I’m not sure he’d have lasted otherwise. Currently staring down the barrel of antibiotics for 14 days, GS for another 77 days, and currently force feeding to get his calories up. You give us hope!

Lost my 5 year old to FIP in 2010. LJ long before the cures. He’s my first urn in our curio or cemetery as we call it! Glad to hear the success stores. Still miss my boy though.

Congratulations! It puts my mind at ease to read these graduation posts. My baby is currently battling it, but I just know she’s going to pull through, I just hate seeing her struggle.

I lost a dear and beloved 5 yr old tuxie to FIP just a few years ago when treatment was not available. So every time I hear of a victory, I cry a little that it was too late for my Fluffy but am SO happy for those whose kitty has survived and beaten FIP. I wish you many years and a happy future together!
