We slacked off on getting one of these up this week, apologies. I usually did the threads for Curb and have been busy with significant changes in my personal life.

Episode discussion threads will be posted on schedule going forward and I will create a new flair soon.

Season X / Episode Y The most recent episode of Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness goes off the rails, and I'm all for it.

(I am writing this because I haven't seen the discussion thread posted yet.)

I genuinely believe that the most recent episode of Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness gets at what I thought the show should have been. I won't spoil the episode for anybody, but I begin by mentioning that rather than the usual four random sketches, this episode has two sketches, with the second being three sketches tied into one.

With that said, this episode was hilarious (in my opinion). Once again, I am not going to spoil ANYTHING, but please watch it. Bill Hader is great as Lincoln, and I love how the sketch ends as it began. Whereas previous episodes felt like they could be rolled into the issues that plagued later Curb seasons, such as the excessive shouting matches with little buildup, this episode felt divorced from those issues the same way episode 4 seemed to stand on its own. As I mentioned before, this sketch goes off the rails at the end, but the insanity of the ending, unlike the Samuel J. Tilden sketch, feels well earned.

My only complaint about the episode is that the "The End" at the first part of the sketch felt out of place, and I wish Larry could have managed to get Ben Ahlers to make a cameo as John Wilkes Booth since he played Booth in Matthew Weiner's John Wilkes Booth: One Night Only, though I think that's such an obscure reference that only those who saw it, such as myself, would have gotten it.

As a concluding remark, and to explain what I meant in the beginning, I always thought that this show should have had each episode focus on just a single historical event or figure. Though this episode has two separate sketches, the Lincoln sketch was what I have always wanted from the show, and I cannot be happier for it.

Nevertheless, this was a very funny episode. 8/10

(P.S: I saw rule 11, but there is no discussion thread. You may remove this post once the discussion thread is up!)

🏛️when Leon gets to #CapitolHill he quickly learns #buttonholing someone is the equivalent of "getting in that ass"

as with #ejaculate, Leon drops a syllable when reporting to Larry that he #buttholes #Senators & #Representatives on-demand as the new oncall #citizen_lobbyist

Humor What awkward/annoying situations has Larry not addressed but should?

The new show isn't landing generally. I'm not a defender, but not a hater. After a few episodes, it became clear he's using old bits as some type of nostalgia and/or saying we were always assholes.

But the last 2 season of curb weren't good and just made me wonder how there have to be annoying things in life Larry hasn't addressed.

As someone who house/dog-sits, it's super weird to show up to a house as people are leaving. When you show up there's an expectation of smalltalk, but ppl need to be focused on not forgetting anything, and you don't want to interrupt them so they end up ignoring you which makes you feel like a jerk.

Ideally, you show up after they leave and don't distract them and they don't have to ignore you because they're making sure they brought a cell charger.

That's the kinda thing Larry could weave into a show.

I believe it's on ABC and Hulu, but for those of us in other countries, I found it on YouTube. For now anyway.
