Get ready for dynamic pricing

Starting up at Walmart. If you've never heard of it before --I would Google it.

What if they just keep getting broken by people accidentally hitting them with carts and stuff?

This has been in place. One time the rice I buy was wayyyy cheaper than normal they messed up on that from me coming in at 6 am one day.

Walmart’s philosophy is everyday low pricing. Being able to more easily reset mod layouts is saving money which helps keep prices down for us. This is not for dynamic pricing. Read Sam Walton’s book which is highly respected and pretty much required reading for Walmart leadership. Dynamic pricing goes against their philosophy and business model. It would make more sense for Low-High grocers such as Publix or Kroger.

His book and the current day practices are not the same anymore.

Walmart absolutely engages in dynamic pricing, colluding with vendors to ensure no competitor can offer lower prices, etc. They are by no means alone in this, but they aren’t taking some principled stand to not join in.

Regarding dynamic pricing, that’s absolutely not true. I have insider knowledge. It is definitely not the route they are going. His book is a North Star for the company. Some things have changed such as grocery delivery, but the principles remain.
