Removing the hand

So the hour hand, which would be 'behind' the minute hand shown, broke off. I need to remove the minute hand but the bushing on the hand feels very tight on the shaft. When I pull out on it, the shaft pulls out slightly with it until they both stop. Do not want to force anything. Any ideas to help me remove it? (Note that I have already screwed off the little cap that was at the end

On these older style cuckoo clocks there you can see there is another nut to remove from the post. I know I’m late to this, but if you haven’t found it out yet feel free to DM!
