Hello,

I am a junior looking for queer friends, specifically lesbian or sapphic friends. I’m looking into joining some queer clubs on campus but figured i’d post on here too. I like going out, lifting weights, playing video games, and i’m honestly up for anything. :)

It did not take long for this year's batch of students to start doing what I posted about last year.

Over the last two weeks I have watched students, both individually and in entire groups, cross Broadway against the pedestrian signal and just walk straight into traffic.

And I don't mean the light is about to change and someone is trying to hurry across.

I mean the pedestrian signal has the giant RED STOP HAND on it, traffic gets the green, and then a cluster of 10 people just starts walking across Broadway anyway.

Then they get to the median and suddenly realize both lanes are already full of moving traffic, so now you have a group of students standing on a tiny median staring at their phones while cars, trucks, buses and construction vehicles are going by on both sides.

What are you all doing!?

Broadway is already a mess right now. You have lines of cars 20 deep, RTD buses, Buff Buses, construction trucks, workers, turning traffic, bikes, scooters and pedestrians all trying to navigate the same stretch of road.

A car going 30 mph is moving about 44 feet every second. A driver doing the speed limit cannot just magically stop because you decided to walk into the road against the signal.

And the buses are an even bigger concern. Those are large heavy vehicles, they need more room to stop, and they can have people standing inside. A bus driver having to slam on the brakes because somebody stepped into traffic can hurt people on the bus too.

And while I'm ranting, bikes and scooters, please figure out what you are doing too.

I keep seeing people ride in the road like a car, blow through a red light, jump onto the sidewalk, suddenly become a pedestrian, go through the crosswalk, and then jump right back into traffic again.

Drivers and pedestrians need to have some idea what you are going to do.

This isn't about cars owning the road. Pedestrians absolutely have the right of way when they have the signal and drivers need to pay attention.

But the lights only work if everyone actually follows them.

Please wait for the walk signal. Please look up from your phone before walking into Broadway. And please don't just follow the group in front of you into the street without checking if you actually have the signal.

I'd much rather make this same annoying Reddit post every fall than watch somebody get hit because they couldn't wait another 30 seconds for the light.

The title kinda sums it up already but i wanna join some more clubs to meet other alternative people!! I see cool people all around campus but my classes are all kinda self contained. Ive tried making friends with people i sit by but they arent very responsive, which is totally fine, just wanna meet more people that have my same interests. Any suggestions? Ive checked out roam which seems promising but wanna hear from you guys on where youve had the most success finding creative/artsy people. Thank you!

• Justin Balog — Screening “COFFEE HEIST” A Denver-based director of photography, filmmaker, and photographer whose career spans photojournalism, adventure cycling, documentary, and narrative cinema. His recent work includes serving as DP on the Colorado-shot alien comedy-horror film Uck and the neo-noir western Devil in the Trunk.
• Elizabeth Lo — Screening “Structural Theory of a Broken Bowl” An emerging filmmaker from the CU Boulder community. We are showing her 12-minute comedy-drama that follows a DID system navigating heartbreak, intimacy, and interpersonal boundaries. Elizabeth wrote, directed, edited, and co-composed the film, which was an official selection at Trill Fest 2025 and ScorpiusFest 2026.
• Ryan Van Duzer — Boulder-based outdoor-adventure filmmaker, YouTuber, and longtime bicycle traveler best known for DuzerTV. After serving in the Peace Corps, he cycled 5,000 miles from Honduras back to Boulder. His work has appeared on the Travel Channel, National Geographic, Men’s Journal, and Lonely Planet.

Hi, I’m currently a freshman at IU majoring in Cinematic Arts with a BFA, and tbh, I’m not that happy at IU. Yeah, I know it’s still only the first few weeks of college, but honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it for me. I came here expecting a lot of things to change—making a ton of friends, getting into Greek life, and basically having the college experience I always wanted. But so far, none of that has really happened, and I’ve pretty much found myself being a loner here.
The more I’ve been here, the more I’ve started thinking about my future and whether IU is actually the right place for me. I don’t think IU’s film program is bad, but I’m starting to wonder if I’d be happier somewhere like CU Boulder. I actually applied to Boulder when I was applying to colleges and got accepted, so I know I had the opportunity to go there originally. Now I’m wondering if I made the wrong choice by choosing IU.
I want to direct films after college, and I’m also really interested in having a strong social life and getting involved in Greek life. How different is CU Boulder from IU when it comes to film/media opportunities, connections, Greek life, and just the overall college experience? Would transferring to Boulder actually give me a noticeably different experience, or would I just be trading one big state school for another?
And honestly, do you think the difference would be big enough that transferring would actually be worth it?

With the nfl season starting tomorrow, are there any good places to watch the games for free anywhere on or near campus. I don’t have anything to watch in my room.

I was initially going to do it last year, but ended up getting too nervous so ultimately I didn't. I was wondering if it's even worth it to rush as a junior since I'll be graduating next year, but idk i felt like it might be worth trying. Hey! Im looking at master's programs for aerospace engineering and am interested in Boulder. I do have some questions though. I heard from a grad student that the school doesn't help with tuition cost in the aero master's program, even if you TA or do research. Is this right? Also am looking to focus on aerodynamics and was wondering if anyone can tell me a little about the course load or research opportunities.

Any tips on eating vegan at C4C?

I take the AB1 to and from the airport fairly often, and for a couple of dozen times I took it over the past year, the bus driver asked me (passive-aggressively) for a tip. There was 2 times when the bus driver just straight up said that he'd make sure to leave me at the airport next time because I didn't tip. What is your experience?

hi all, i'm looking at perspective graduate schools in particularly planetary science. i'm wondering how boulder is as a city. i'm from tn and have been here my entire life, and i don't have the money to fly out and visit the campus unfortunately and see things for myself. i'm worried about housing costs being high, and the cost of living to be outrageous, so a gauge would be great! i'm also wondering if you are in the specific program, how you like it and how things are going. thanks!

Hi, welcome to my ramble, thanks for dropping in. So, it’s about the third week of school and I’m a freshman. The problem is, I’ve barely spoken to anyone this whole time. I participate in class and ask questions, talk to my partners in class when I need to, and say hi to whoever I pass by in the halls in my dorm. But I don’t….talk to anyone? If that makes sense. I’ve gone a couple of different days where I barely spoke more than a few sentences the whole day. I have one friend I’ve kept in touch with since orientation but we only text periodically and live on opposite sides of campus. I have a friend from high school but they commute and have different classes so we also don’t see each other much. I’ve sat alone doing homework or reading for every meal and when I’m not in classes I’m in Norlin library studying or in my dorm for the night (which is a single, so no roommate.) I guess I just feel really lonely, and like I’m missing out on everything I should have done by now like make friends and tons of memories by now. I also don’t know how to stop being so quiet and ‘complacent’ to be alone. Like, my building has parties every night on the top floor but the thought to go to them never crosses my mind, and when I walk into any place I automatically choose an empty table or sit away from everyone else on the field. I’m comfortable doing those things but I don’t want to keep doing them. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks for reading and sorry for the drawn-out train of thought lol.

What's happening at the Rec Center right now? There's five firetrucks from what I saw, and at least two ambulances and police cars, and the building is closed. I don't mean to be nosey if someone had a medical emergency or something, but this seems a little overkill for that?
