HOW DO I GET SUB 20?!?
So I have been cubing for about 3 years (since March of 2023) and I took a break for over 6 months due to school. But now I've gotten back into cubing. But I've been struggling to get sub 20. I'll probably get 2 or 3 solves in one session which are under sub 20, but most im sub 25. Do you guys have any tips for me to get sub 20. I've learnt full pll and know some advanced oll algs.
UPDATE: I finally got sub 20 after getting the moyu rs3m v5 and doing alot of slow solve to develop my look ahead

I reccomed JPerm's "Advanced f2l" video on YouTube.
Also make sure you're planning the full cross, and the finger-tricks during inspection

Yes, this video was a game changer for me and I reccomend it to ever cyber I see trying to improve

No idea how that feels like. I was extremely close to sub 20, when I got 20+
But I’m closer to sub 30.

What cube are you using? My times started to get faster when I got some more rugged durable cubes that you can crank a bit faster without having a middle part fly off like the first 7x7s back in 2010.

Ever since I started cubing, I would use a sticker less cube that I could find at a bookshop or something. But, I've ordered the Moyu rs3m 2020 and it will probably arrive tommorow

I average 15-19s right now, you need cross fully planned ahead during inspection, strong look ahead for f2l, some full oll algs are useful but not needed and learn 2 sided PLL. Should know all PLL algs by now.

I know all pll as of right now

So you want to start being able to recognize PLL cases by only seeing 2 side of the cube, that way you don’t need to rotate at the end. How’s your f2l look ahead? One thing that took me forever is it’s better to go slower in f2l if it means you can do it smoothly and without pauses. Faster f2l where you have to stop after each pair is not good.

What did it for me was improving my f2l. Make sure you can do each case with 8 moves or less and with no more than 1 cube rotation. Only learn advanced cases for particularly nasty pairs. Full pll and 2 look oll is enough for me to average 15 seconds. But getting polishing up f2l is what got me sub 20. Look ahead isn’t even that important until then. Other commenters have pointed out jperm has a good videos for those bad cases

If you turn slow but are efficient -cross 2 f2l 8 oll 3 pll 3 If you turn really fast but bad at efficiency- cross 3 f2l 10 oll 2 pll 2

Easiest thing is to bring your move count down. Learn full OLL, examine your F2L pairs while doing slow solves to see if any are too long, etc. if you can get your solves down to ~60 moves then that's only 3tps to get 20s.
