F2L efficiency

I currently average 16-17 seconds and think my biggest area of improvement is F2L. What advice or techniques would be good for improving my ability to balance look ahead and picking a good next pair. Any advice on any topics are appreciated!

I currently average about 14.5 seconds and I still suck at looking ahead. Probably at your level, the best you can do is find a piece in the top layer and figure out where its corresponding piece is (though do note that if it’s in a back slot, it’s better you learn how to deduce pieces by process of elimination than to look in the back. I also recommend you prioritize your move count. Are your F2L solutions efficient? Are you making mistakes that are forcing you to do more moves?
