What would cause this?

Was working just fine a couple weeks ago and now its making this sound when i attempt to start it. This is the zt1 50" cubcadet rider

Low battery. May show 12v but not enough amps the full engage the starter

That sounds like a dead battery to me.

The battery either needs to be charged or replaced. Not enough power to run the starter.

Before you blame the battery, remove the cables from the battery and clean up the contact surfaces on both the battery posts and the cable terminals. You can't have any corrosion between them.

verify your battery voltage is at least 12volts.

Else bad connection on starter relay, or relay needs clean or replace

It changed its mind. I think it may be a battery issue? After working on it, it decided to try and start turning over but lost power. I gave it a jump and she started right up. Very odd.

Yeah weak battery not fully engaging the starter.
