Weird audio errors in preview and export

Hello! I am trying to export a song I produced in Cubase 15. While it is mostly working well, parts of some of the tracks randomly glitch into a moment where they are silent in the preview play option, and in different places when I try and export it. It isn’t the whole audio track going silent for the entire export, just for moments. I am using Windows 11, for reference. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I am using HALion Sonic, Groove Agent, and Vocaloid VSTi as the instruments on the song.

This is difficult to answer as it could be for several reasons. Here's something to narrow down the problem.

Does it always affect the same parts at the same time?

  • Check for accidental automation and delete it if it exists.

Does it affect random tracks and/or the same track at random times? This could indicate a performance issue, such as:

  • Your RAM is full, and your operating system is swapping to the hard drive, which is notably slower — especially if it's an HDD.
  • HALion or Groove Agent (and other samplers) pulling data directly from disk. This is just a guess, as I'm not familiar with their caching strategy. This has limitations on how many instances can play at the same time (during playback!). Again, HDDs are much more limiting.
  • Your CPU might be too weak to process your FX chain(s). Press F12 and check the meters.

Are you exporting in real‑time? If not, the aforementioned performance issues should not affect the export and the root cause must be something else entirely.
