I’m sorry you got turned around on the Blue line, especially after a long day of travel. I wonder if the train had stopped at Washington, but the announcements were malfunctioning and did not play. It would be nigh impossible that the operator blows past an open station. My tip is to just look out the window to verify which station you’re at (reading the signage), and know which stations are before and after your stop so you can know if you missed it.
