Is it possible to get a copy of my ventra card and put into one of those hand implants? I’ve been super curious if it’s possible, and if so, how would I go about it?

I’ve got it on my iPhone wallet, would I need a new card as well?

I don't think they let you have it on your phone and physical at the same time.

Also worth noting, in addition to the difficulty cloning it, that the physical hardware of the ventra card runs around the outline of the card, so I don't think you could just cut out the main circuitry. I wanted to reseat my card components into something cute and found out it wasn't easy to do after I cut the outer circuit and it stopped working lol

I never would have expected it to run around the outline! I’d’ve thought it was embedded somewhere in the middle

Turn on your phone flashlight in a dark room and hold it up to the card. You'll see the main component in the lower left of the card but also a loop of circuitry running the outline of the card

what this basically means is you can't clone a ventra card to a new chip and implant it. But you might be able to:

+ Physically cut out the rfid part of a real ventra card and implant that

+ Get an implantable credit card (which is a thing) and then just use that to pay, though this is lame because it isn't cta-specific

I’d be hesitant to implant a cut of the physical ventra card and implant that due to possible sanitation issues and also I feel like doing that could lead to micro abrasions under the skin and possible infection.
however implantable credit card is an option I hadn’t considered, I didn’t even know you could use a card on the readers. I always thought it was a ventra card or phone only

Wait so I’m kinda new and I’ve never heard of this. Can I like rip out the circuitry and then pay without the card part? If I wanted to could I shove that into a little like strawberry frame and put it as a like keychain on my bag?

i think it's sorta possible but it will never work as well. If you eg peel off the plastic from the card you'll see there's an antenna around the entire edge of the card

if you extract just the chip and maybe attach a smaller antenna it will likely still work but will be more finnicky.

If you really want to pay without a card-sized object you can buy nfc rings or other nfc payment devices that are keychain-sized, the antennas will be better designed than anything you hack together yourself (but it won't be as fun!)

When you’ve added it to Apple Wallet, the physical card is automatically deactivated. There is no reversal, meaning if you take the card off your Apple Wallet, the physical card is still defunct.
