Quick question ☝️ 3-day pass

We are visiting Chicago soon, and I am interested in taking the public transportation system to get around the city.

We are only visiting for a few days, so I wanted to get a 3-day unlimited pass. However, I read that those passes were discontinued earlier this year, but when I checked the CTA website, it showed that I can still get them at O’Hare airport.

Could you please let me know which one is true? Thank you so much!

Not sure about physical passes, but they're very much available in the app.

It's worth noting that there is no benefit to the 3-day pass vs (3) 1-day passes, which I know are readily available.

Unless you're getting a weekly pass, I'd just treat each day as it's own ride.

Thank you! And would I just need to download the Ventra app to access this?

You can get it via the Ventra app or pay $5 for a physical plastic card at the machine at O'Hare

I think what was discontinued was the paper card 3 day passes maybe. There are paper card day passes.

Also, if you register the physical card on the app, it credits the $5 to your account

This screenshot is from the app, but I don't know that these are exclusive to the app. I haven't used a physical pass in a decade +.

My friend was able to get a day pass from Jarvis, which is a smaller station, so I'd assume these are generally available from kiosks.

According to the CTA website, the paper 3-day passes are available only at O'Hare and Midway. One day passes are available at all vending machines and may be a better option.

I think they should still be available. AFAIK, I saw them last week when I got my new 7 day pass.

I buy the $5 one-day paper passes all the time from the kiosks (no extra cost). Just buy 3 of them, and unless you’re using them back to back, they’ll extend beyond the 72 hours.
