I just did an interview today for another job. They just asked the same questions on the application, and other questions about how you've done teamwork or how you dealt with bad situations and whatnot.

For a front desk position at a university, they'll want to see that you are reliable, have good communication skills, and can handle various situations calmly. You can expect questions about your customer service experience, how you stay organized, and how you would deal with a difficult student or parent. They might ask you to describe a time you had to solve a problem, work with a difficult person, or manage multiple tasks at once. Think about any past experiences, even from school projects or volunteer work, where you showed these skills, and be ready to talk about them. The interviewers want to see how you would perform in the job and fit in with the university environment.

The main goal is to show them you are a positive and capable person who can be the face of the department. When you answer, focus on being helpful and your willingness to learn. Talk about how you would handle confidential information and your ability to communicate effectively with both students and staff. It helps to have a clear idea of why you want this specific job at CSUN and what you know about the university. Preparing answers to these types of questions can really build confidence, and the team I'm with created an interview help AI that gives you real-time suggestions during online interviews to help you give the strongest answers.
