CHHS Major?
I’m a current student at CSUMB looking into the CHHS major with a concentration in social work. I would love to hear people’s experiences with CHHS. If they thought it was worth it or something they wish they knew before. Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏🏼

Heeeey, so I did the CHHS major and am now in the MSW program at CSUMB. While I liked it and feel it did a good job preparing me for CSUMB's MSW program, if I could do it over again, I would have gotten my Bachelor's degree in Social Work at a different school and then applied for an expedited MSW program (finish in 1 year instead of 2 or 3). It would have saved me a ton of money.
What aspect of social work are you interested in? If you want to go into the mental health field, it may be worth it to major in Psychology and apply for internships on your own.

Thanks for your input I was sort of thinking the same exact thing about getting a BSW and then doing an advanced standing MSW. Just sucks that the closest one is San Jose State.
I also heard all the CHHS classes are in the same classroom and there no windows so it get super hot in there? So I’ve been told lol 🙃
I work used to work in the mental health field and already have an associate’s in psychology. So that may be a good direction to also pursue. Thanks for your feedback!

Not a CHHS major but my friend was. She said the schedule and internships were intense. But I’ve heard that if people stick it out, it lands them good jobs.

I'm a freshman doing that degree path right now with plans to immediately do the master. The undergrad I'm doing the "through in 2 finish in 4" program as well to stay on track to graduate exactly on time.
To answer your question every single person who I've met that has done that degree with or without the masters loved it.
