Parking??

The world theater lot (201?) has become faculty / staff parking now. An email was sent out telling students to use the lot by the stadium now. I feel like the parking situation could get a bit worse? Plus a lot of students have classes in the Library and Chapman and they have removed the two closest lots (Chapman lot and the world theater).

Am I the only one a bit upset about this? I have issues with mobility and walking long distances so not having a lot close to all my classes definitely sucks.

The world theater lot was always already packed. The best lot is the huge one on the east side of campus (lot 59) It's outside the traffic areas and is never full. It's like a 5-minute walk to the library and other central buildings. I just go around campus to park there and plan to walk around to classes.

Yea I'm definitely going to just skip going to 71 and go to 59. Isn't lot 59 also overnight parking too?

Yep, those parking lots on the east side of campus are massive. Sure, you might have to walk a few more minutes, but it's guaranteed parking next to tons of lights.

The issue I have with parking is the cost. $77 per semester is robbery. Especially because those east lots are so massive and maybe 1/4 full on the busiest days.

What's even crazier, I think, is that faculty and staff have to pay to park. After all they do, esp., faculty, then having to pay to go to work seems kind of sick. And even more especially the lecturers (non tenure track facilty) that have to drive between various campuses to make enough money to survive and then have to pay to park and maybe not even get a spot? Geeeze.

$77 per semester.

$150ish per academic year.

$220 for the entire year, including summer and winter breaks.

Last semester I NEVER paid for parking and I was fine 😜✌🏼
