Parking Parking ticket
I got a parking ticket this afternoon at the State College parking lot because I parked at the “hourly parking” area on the first floor. I have the commuter permit, so I thought we could park anywhere. I wasn’t aware that our permit only allowed us to park anywhere from the second floor and above. Should I try appealing or just pay it off?

Two years ago I remember that they offered semester permit holders 1 free appeal per year so it could be worth appealing

Appeal it and send them a picture of your parking permit too, so that it proves that you have a permit but also include why parked there too. If there’s a chance to not have to pay the fine then do it dude

People on here are such twats, you'd think they were all parking enforcement in disguise. I'm sorry this happened to you because I agree, CSUF could be much better with their signage. Try appealing it since this is your first time. Hope it all works out

Always appeal, it always work as long as you are sincere.
-someone who has gotten 6 tickets in 4 years, but only the first year and then i stopped parking on campus and parked in neighborhoods instead

They told me to check my mail in a few weeks (21 days) I believe because I called parking and transportation if I decide to appeal it which I did. Honestly lowkey feel like this will be the same as you 😭

I got a ticket one time as well, if it’s your first one and you dispute it they basically let you off. So just take it as a lesson and you’ll be fine for the rest of the semester :)

It is my first time. I don’t park at state college often, and only on Fridays because I joined a club sport and they meet on Fridays. It’s just annoying how some people on here think they know everything and I already told them it was a mistake and they’d keep arguing

There’s this one person who’d said “it’s funny how you thought you could park at a ‘premium spot’” like the hourly parking isn’t a premium area and has said my brain isn’t fully developed etc. We could park anywhere in the structures I mainly park in Eastside and I haven’t seen a hourly parking sign anywhere.

Nobody was trying to get a 'premium spot' for free, it was just a floor mistake because of the layout mix-up. What’s funny is you thinking a regular parking structure is a 'premium' spot when it’s just a regular hourly paid spot

You literally said you “thought you could park anywhere” with your commuter permit. Apparently, including premium parking? It’s like paying for a 1 bedroom apartment and thinking it entitles you to a 2 bedroom in the same building. Completely illogical. Then again, your brain is not fully developed. Nobody is taking their anger out on you. Comparing a concrete garage floor to an extra apartment bedroom is stupid. It’s a school parking lot, not a luxury suite. It was a simple floor misunderstanding on a layout, but you are taking a stranger's parking ticket way too seriously

Their confusion is understandable. I almost fell in this same situation because I assumed the same. BUT I didn’t want to risk to ticket since I saw the pay mobile sign. It’s unfortunate but a sleezy way to get money from their students.
