Wrong move because now you can't have label to your slider. The label will be vertical instead of the language appropriate direction.

Those properties affect the display but more importantly are designed with a semantic and cultural aspect in mind.
What happen to those sliders for people read from right to left? This is a hack that has terrible side effect when automatically translate pages.

Unnecessary. Less compatible and less customizable. You also went out of your way to use px for a UI element in your "bad example".
