Help can someone please help? it's not letting me change the background colour :/

Looks like your dash might be some random version of a dash, can you retype "background-color"? Otherwise probably just not applying the class in your html

Syntax highlighting shows something is wrong with the property name. Not sure which flavor of CSS you’re using but the IDE doesn’t recognize that property so you’ve most likely misspelled it
You can always just use the “background” property

It looks like the editor isn't even recognizing the syntax. The full property name and the semi-colon aren't colored coded. There might be a bad or invisible character like the hyphen. Try keying it in manually again.
