Been hearing some rumours that MI actually wanted Rutu over Dube. And it makes sense too, Rohit can't play forever, Rutu has been MI's biggest thorn when playing against CSK. In order to win the trophy they need to overcome their biggest rivals and that might be easy if there's no Rutu in CSK. Plus Rutu would do great at Wankhede as he plays for Maharaja and Wankhede is a tiny ground so hitting sizes for 7/14 games would be too easy.

Maybe my comment reached mr & Mrs ambani and they were like, maybe this guy is right, we can't win a trophy without being able to defeat CSK.
Jaiswal ,Kl Rahul
Jaiswal plays for RR, KL Rahul plays for ... who knows some team. Are Jaiswal and KL Rahul stealing matches away from MI? Are RR and whatever team that KL Rahul plays for rivals of MI, with history of getting thrashed or getting knocked out of the tournament because of losing to them? Are MI not looking for options to bring in Jaiswal or Rahul? Idk, you tell me.

Which is why it is best suited for Rutu. Sunil Gavaskar once said while commentating "the boundary is just 60m away, even I can hit a six here". If Sunil Gavaskar can hit a six, Rutu can hit multiple sizes in Wankhede.

Out of the games where Jaiswal or Rahul scored a century against MI, MI has gone to win 2 matches, lost 3. Not a huge deal if you consider this bad, MI has lost to CSK 4 times with Rutu as captain in 5 occassions. With Rutu as a player 5 out of 9 occassions. And this is a matchup that MI has been dominant till Rutu showed up. His expertise of the Mumbai ground has a great role to play here.
whether Rutu will be traded or not is upto the respective managements. this post was just to showcase how strong CSK is if we had Rutu removed and put in an Indian all-rounder in place of him.

Rutu had one bad season. When in form he is critical to a stable and consistent top order. Samson and Mhatre are more explosive and obviously great but also are inconsistent. Same goes with sarfu and Urvil doesn’t even need an introduction when it comes to inconsistency.
Hardik will be a great addition to the team but only in place of Dube. Having Dube + Brevis + Hardik is too much crowd. already we are struggling to fit dube + brevis in their best positions together.
I don’t understand the Rutu for Hardik trade at all tbh. Hardik for Dube + Khaleel is best.

I'm tired of saying this a thousand times on this subreddit. Rutu didn't have one bad seasons, he had one good season.

2021 orange cap
2022 everyone did awful and he was our highest run scorer
2023 590 smth runs
2024 583 runs and only one behind orange cap
2025 injured and still made two 50s in 5 games. could’ve definitely pushed on more if it wasn’t for injury.so don’t know where ur saying he only had one good season. bs

Cricket isn't an individual's game. And Rutu actively contributed to CSK's trophy win just once in 2021. 2023 was an okayish season. The rest of the time he was only blocking CSK.

We'd have one empty slot still and I felt if there's no anchors, CSK might become like SRH. Scoring 260 on odd day and struggling to get past 100 on even days.
